Saw David last night at the Vermont Comedy Club. Now I understand what it means when the Irish have a “Gift of the Gab”. He went on non-stop for over an hour then took questions afterwards. His stories were hilarious and almost unbelievable. But at the end of his skit he brought pictures as proof. My wife and I had ringside seats and neither of us remember ever laughing so hard. I believe he sells himself short. Ticket prices were cheap!

I've wanted to go so bad. On several different occasions I've met Irish immigrants like, green card status and TWO of them said something to the effect of "You know how Ireland is beautiful because it's so green?....well thats because it never stops fucking raining!" and I died laughing. Irish are dope. I can't wait to visit and get talked into staying, one of these days.

Why is it that this guy is smarter faster funnier better and more understanding than any politician we can come up with in the USA in 50 years and he's not even a natural born citizen so he can't be president but we need him desperately. I never laughed so hard.

A lot of US politicians are trained in avoidance speech. Like that Mike Pence. Plus, corruption runs rampant in US politics, unfortunately.

This fellow should be an ambassador to the world...his positivity is infectious. His comedy is impactful and honestly FUNNY. Oddly, I have never heard of him...and I hope that changes for the better. We certainly need more bright thinkers

I've been to Ireland, 22 years ago. I've traveled to a lot of countries and I can say unequivocally, that Ireland was spectacularly friendly and welcoming. I was actually overwhelmed by how warm and gracious the welcome was. The next two friendliest: New Zealand and Vietnam.

@@zoemiller9716 I can only speak to my personal experience. I shan't demonize an entire nation based on someone else's. That said, racism is an historical global phenomenon from which no country is exempt. That includes Ireland and my home nation of the United States. Let me clarify, in the two weeks during my visit to Ireland I was welcomed and treated well. I know people (live near them, have worked with them, been taught by them) who have treated me with respect but who I know embrace racist ideology and uphold racialized institutional structures. These dynamics are not mutually exclusive and coexist in human beings.

My great grandfather was orphaned in Ireland when his parents died in a factory fire. He stowed away on a boat and became the cabin boy, sailed around the world several times, ended up in San Francisco. We would hear stories of him and his adventures growing up. I still have his sitting chair. We're very proud of our Irish ancestry and David here shows why; humor, wit, thoughtfulness, a bit of self depreciation and a lot of love. Thanks man, I found you on TikTok first, glad to see you hear, haven't laughed this long in forever. I'll be checking to see when you come to Seattle again.

I just returned from a 2 week trip to Ireland. He represents the tenor of the Irish people generally, never taking themselves too seriously and always enjoying a good laugh. Great special. I’ll be looking for him when he comes to Boston.

One of the funniest comedy shows I've seen in a while. The fact David went out and showed us the photos and videos got me giggling like an idiot, as i was reminded of watching my families stupid shenanigans on old cameras we find during cleaning up. Oh, this is straight up like being with my mother. She always use to say, "Well, to make a short story even longer," and off we go for a two hour plus, story-time because I suffer the same gift o' gab as her. And, yes, her heritage is right out of Swords, Ireland. You made my day, tears of laughter, and a warmth in my heart.

This half-Irish half-Mexican, American lady can attest that they are quite similar! My Irish father bonded with my Mexican mother over their childhood trauma in Catholic schools 😂

True & kinda true. He's in Utah, one of the most, if not thee most, Conservative state/s. LDS are very Conservative. Utahns are 1/2 devout LDS, 1/2 live by that LDS subculture. I'm from NY & moved to Utah abt 10 yrs ago. I went from hardcore Leftie to hardcore Right, brainwashed nutty kookoo ppl to factual, logical, common sense, informed ppl. If a Right-wing comedian is going anywhere, it's Utah, Wyoming, Montana or Idaho. All US cities are Leftie, but there's degrees of it. The South is considered very Republican/Conservative, not so much the cities. They're extremely Leftie. I've been down South many times. Salt Lake City is considered very Leftie to Utahns. To me, it's barely Leftie. Same with Billings, Boise & Cheyenne. In NY, I'm from Buffalo/Niagara Falls & Staten Island. I've been to Toronto many times & used to watch CBC living in WNY. You probably know abt my burb town in WNY. 💕

Take a trip to Manhattan, Orlando or even here in SJ Costa Rica. Just a group of 5 guys can easily have 15 different ethnic groups on their genome. Spain alone was pretty diverse before they sent the colony fleets...

thank you for sharing this with us Dave. as a person with Irish heritage, i actually managed to find that the Irish side of our family had originally moved from Scotland to the Cork area and had lived there for some time before coming over to Canada. i had a lot of laughs and learned some history.

His voice, delivery, facial expressions (mouth and eyebrows) and accent are just great! You could listen to him for hours!

I've seen so many clips from this special, It never occurred to me that I should just look for the whole special. Absolutely worth it!

This was fantastic all through! And it deserved a standing ovation.

I was raised in Hayward California. 1/3 of my elementary school was African American. I always hated racism. I never wanted to identify as any particular race because racism turned me off to any kind of nationalist identity. Some years ago, I found out that my ancestors came from scotts-Irish area of Ireland. You today are the first person who made me feel proud to associate what your value system of what it means to be Irish in that its about inclusion, acceptance, welcoming, celebrating and appreciating all people which I believe can be included in all cultures because we are all human. I have always identified as human not separate from others. Your melting pot VS Charcuterie board metaphor is brilliant ( we don't separate, we live together.) In America the government through the housing administration separated us geographically and economically by law then tried to blame people's individual preferences ( de facto vs dejur) for the differences. Thank you for bringing us together and showing me that these values are something that my ancestors employed/ walked the talk. When you said Irish people chose to pick their own potatoes, when my mind comprehended it, touched me deeply because that was what it was all about wasnt it? Lazy fecking( new word for me) people who used violence to force others to do their dirty work while they got rich and slovenly. I never wanted to be in a position where I was using others to my advantage and their disadvantage. Mutual benefit has always been a high value in my life. If someone promoted racism or belittled people in an effort to make themselves look better I got the F away from them, in business and relationships. Thank you for awakening me to feeling some positive association to having Irish in my background. ❤

I've commented here several times, and each tune I come back to this fellas videos, I smile a bit longer. ❤ This is what Ireland is like, at least along the shores of Carlingford lough, and the Mourne mountains. my grandfather was a character like Dave, always ready with an insane story, which ultimately turned out to be entirely true, like the time my uncle Willie, a beautiful soul who reared pigs in the Mourne mountains who fell in a grave during a funeral, and then a year or so later, at another funeral, ws telling the story to this other set of mourners and fell in AGAIN!!!😂 irish people just have a warmth to us which I've rarely encountered anywhere else in the world. We are loved because we are friends. to everyone. have a great day dave, and pass my blessings to your parents. they reared you well mo chara.

When he referred to America as a charcuterie board, I died!! I love this!

I watched it a lot of times now and I have to say this is one of best ever put together comedy specials I have ever seen. Congratulations. Love it. Please give us more of this

My Sister went all over Europe and she said the Irish absolutely were the sincerely nicest people. I'm American & yes I am part Irish, English, Scottish & Welsh and many other things but I love being Irish the most out of those 4.💚 This special made me laugh so hard my eyes watered. It's really brilliant.

I hope I get to see a live performance.. and I always knew we were Irish ❤

One of the best comedic styles I’ve ever heard! He can take any controversy and deliver it with no offense. Even Michael Obama would applaud a joke of how a man could give birth to two teenage daughters.
