David Moliner - Hypotyposis saturniennes (2023)

Hypotyposes saturniennes describes the subconscious as the driving creative force, calls the contradictory God of abundance, but also of hard work and melancholy. The work uses texts by Arthur Rimbaud, (Hypotyposes saturniennes, ex Belmontet and Age d'or) as well as questions from William Shakespeare and Italian sentences written by the composer himself.
00:00 La veglia (Vigil) - haunting chords on the 5 vowels
02:17 Il mondo dei sogni (World of Dreams) - bleak yet sweet solo melodies
03:43 Melodies fall apart into "ghost low pitches", frantic whistling, wild glisses
08:13 Warm chorus around a solo alto
10:24 Mad consonant and vowel sounds, jet whistles
13:52 A joyous chorale preceding "the enchanted men" (14:29)
16:41 Quirky rhythms of the esoterics
18:25 A haunting final chorale among (bird) whistling
Composer: David Moliner (1991 -)
Chorus: SWR Vokalensemble directed by Marcus Creed

I am trying to imagine the pitch accuracy needed to sing these outrageous harmonies without accomplishment. Incredible talent from these singers

Wow what a ride that was. PS: I wish more people knew that ctrl+p during expression text input would make the fancy piano 'p' appear and ctrl+f for the forte etc.

Rousing. Certainly impressive accapella singing sans external pitch reference.

contemporary music is just like that, if you dont like it you could try working your way up to it by listening to composers like ravel, debussy, scriabin etc, (specifically their late pieces) or you could just not get into contemporary music at all, cause its extremely difficult to understand/get used to lol
