I have no words for the beauty of this piece. There's just something about his voice that absolutely stills the soul. Doesn't matter what it is he's singing.

Definitely! I found his Von Trapped Family videos last week and that version of Yes, I Have Ghosts has been stuck in my mind ever since, so I'd love an album with this sonnet and the Von Trapped songs on it. I generally love stripped down versions of songs most: I also want my fave singer/songwriter Neil Finn to record an album just of him singing & playing acoustic guitar & piano.

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate: Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, And summer's lease hath all too short a date: Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines, And often is his gold complexion dimm'd; And every fair from fair sometime declines, By chance, or nature's changing course, untrimm'd; But thy eternal summer shall not fade Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st; Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade, When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st; So long as men can breathe or eyes can see, So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

In Japanese .. :)

Only David Gilmour and a very few other singers, songwriters and musicians can and only sing and totally immerse an audience into total silence because of the beauty , credibility and professionalism of something astonishingly haunting and " OH SO RIGHT" made magical by them for me ,you and brand new worldwide audiences and further afield, stunning and simply makes perfect sense why only these artists ....tread down a new path to remind you and make you feel just when you thought you'd heard all types of alternative music from an array of singers and songwriters you get caught off guard and the power of music has yet again stopped you so statue like still until the last note and word gently fade away

It's really special to hear the poem sang by someone who is able to give life to it. It seems like if the meaning of the sonnet is clearer. The instruments playing also give a different aspect to it. The interesting stuff about this version is that even if someone doesnt't understand it, it feels like something good.

2 Brilliant British men centuries apart coming together as one here. Hat's off to Gilmour....nobody can touch him on the guitar and nobody sings like him. He was one of the first to embrace his British accent when so many were trying to sound American. I cannot imagine how proud British people were to have someone say "wait why would I want to try and sound American? And out flows one of the best voices in music. I know as a Virginia born and raised man it was that very thing that drew me in plus his brilliant guitar work. First 3 songs I heard "Time", "Comfortably Numb" and "Young Lust" I said wait this is the same guitarist and singer and it is in his phrasing. Brilliant man. GREAT solo albums too. Wow. Love it. And this is just beautiful. He reminds me of a true renaissance gentleman. He is so humble too. Closest thing to bragging I ever heard him say was "I cannot imagine being in the crowd and experiencing that" -> talking about his outro solos where he cuts loose and he is right because I cannot imagine it either. That is humble. Love his new solo album a special song on it "In Any Tounge" wow incredible. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful piece of art by the way.

David Gilmour's singing (to his own tune) of Shakespeare's reputedly most famous Sonnet 18 sounds to my ears as a kind of a "Hymn to love", that is, the singer's heart's hymn of love for all that is dear to him: his beloved one, the 'sweet' Thames, his mother country, above all perhaps, the world of the Muses---all this seems to permeate his performance, something spontaneously & gently overflowing from the heart.♪
