Музыка

This is David Gilmour playing Marooned at The 50th Anniversary Fender Stratocaster. This song is fucking amazing. The sound is just incredible. Gilmour sure knows how to write music!

In an interview once Gilmour said he knew he would never be the fastest guitarist, so instead he said he wanted his guitar to sound as though it was talking. He succeeded, no-one makes a guitar "talk" the way he does. I grew up with his music/ Floyds, and I doubt I will hear another band like them in this lifetime. End of an era. Simply awesome.

I've watched this video literally hundreds of times, quite possibly over a thousand, and it still makes me emotional every single time. Partly because I feel attached to the soul that comes through those strings and partly because it reminds me of just how unbelievably good Pink Floyd was after he took over for Sid. David is way underated and always has been IMHO.

Column flow of Pink Floyd, is a guitarist with a sound and feel virtually unique. Recognizable after listening a few notes, has a style very melodic and complex, despite the choice of notes always points to a great simplicity true virtuoso, has never played fast but always intensely and heart. Gilmour's work as a musician can not be limited only to the guitar. Great experimenter of sound, has been able to radically innovate the sound of modern electric guitar. Was also able to use all possible expressive capabilities of the instrument also to create contexts harmonic ethereal, mysterious, majestic, distressing ... ie the entire heritage sound of Pink Floyd. A guitarist like every guitarist should be. A master in every sense, modern even today. I will never stop listening to "the dark side of the moon", in "Animals", in "wish you where here"in"The division Bell".

If Harrison made his guitar weep, Gilmour makes it laugh, sing, dance, grumble, get angry, become melancholic, sad, hopefull.... That plus the creme the la creme of musicians around, and of course you come as close to perfection as humans will ever come....

David is being David. At this point in his life he doesn't have to prove anything. But he can honour the Strat, which is what it's all about. He's not competing with the others; he's showing the instrument's versatility. Having said all that, if you have ever seen this live, it will blow your doors off.
