really, I bet those guys in training don't go out of the gold at 18m. they were both feeling the pressure.

Add jet lag to the competition pressures and it’d be tough to hit the paper. Wonder how many ends for warmup?

18m i can shoot my hunting recurve that well in my yard. Id probably completely miss under pressure tho.

That pressure really makes it hard. Also practicing in a different area then going to these shoot off ranges doesn't help either.

Stig. Has an interesting draw. Looks weird. Kinda draws while pointing down Then brings up to anchor. To bad that last shot.

I'm a little confused. Many serious archers shooting a recurve instinctively can get groups like this at 20 yards....

Then why this two guys reached the semifinals again in 2019? Don't you find weird that one year ago many serious archers shooting instinctive could have beaten those two and claim the title and this year, while knowing how easy is to do, they refused to enter in the competition and the best ones were more or less the same barebow shooters? I've seen good instinctive shooters in a regional tournament in which I took part in November, but the top ten were all string walking shooters. Is just more effective if you shoot at fixed range.

@@Buran01 I see what you are saying, and maybe it was just a poor showing at this particular final. I shoot instinctively and was just browsing some videos for the first time and was surprised. In my experience, and with the guys I have shot with, at 20 yards consistently hitting a 6 to 8 inch circle is not that difficult, instinctively. This was a final in a competition that seemed fairly prestigious, so I was just a little surprised.

40cm target face, vs 60 for instinctive. Big differnece, I shoot both.

@@bneaclab1 For reference the gold circle is 3.14 inches in diameter. Both archers here consistently shot 4-inch groups, with an occasional flier. Are there better performances out there in the barebow division? Sure there are. If you can match this level of precision on a consistent basis shooting instinctively, then you should enter the competition and prove to everyone that it can be done. Otherwise, talk is cheap.

@@johnbarron4265 For 'your' reference...if you are going to hunt with a recurve or long bow and shoot instinctively, you need to be hitting a six inch circle at whatever range you intend to shoot. You can search a multitude of vids on youtube that show this type of accuracy. Maybe talk is cheap and you won't see me at competitions. But like I said, it is surprising. I would have thought competitive shooting in a final would be more accurate. And yes I use to shoot groups like that all day long.

No offense but i could beat both of them with my usual hunting recurve shooting fletched gt400s off the shelf. These guys are using stripped Olympic recurves and only hitting 8s avg?

Both these archers have shot 550+ 60 arrows in regular competition (qualification). That is a 9+ average. Go do that on a 40cm target face where the gold is the same size as both compound and recurve shoot.
