Michael Aslanian I think it is about an American astronaut on a mission to space. He does a space walk. At some point things go sideways and he is lost to space. And he is aware until he runs out of oxygen and or water, food that he is not coming back to Earth. So many days/weeks he is going to slowly die in space. So then he takes a bunch of heroin he snuck aboard to calm his nerves.

YES! Finally, DAVID BOWIE! 💫⚡️ David Bowie was a true legend of many things! Look him up. When he passed in 2016 I cried like I had lost a close friend. He was so celebrated that NASA named a constellation after him the day he passed. Also Tesla launched a car into space that plays David Bowie. He was a man of many talents . Even saying that is an understatement.

@@jacktilghman9797 Here is what actually happened to one of Bowie's eyes:: In the spring of 1962, Bowie would walk into a confrontation that would change his life forever when his childhood friend, George Underwood, would be the reason why the future musician would end up having two completely different coloured eyes. Underwood, who went to school with Bowie, later revealed that the two had an argument over a girl which resulted in a playground fight. With both Underwood and Bowie liking the same girl, the two had a “short-lived falling out” which turned physical. The fight resulted in Bowie suffering a Heterochromia, a condition which resulted in the right eye turning blue in appearance while a left one remained a darker shade of brown, due to suffering “a deep corneal abrasion and paralysis of the iris muscle.”

Literally a lifelong fan (born in '68), I never had a life event or memory that wasn't framed by his music. This played on the local AM radio as I was with my mother taking me out to McDonald's when she picked me up on my first day of school. As a teen in the 80's I owned a pair of red shoes (because of "Lets Dance). As a mother in my 20's and 30's I introduced my children to him early on. In my 40's I kept Station to Station, Aladdin Sane and The Lodger in my music rotation...and he died the year before I turned 50. I still weep whenever I hear his songs these few years later. If you want to know what happened to Major Tom, he reveals the major's fate in Blackstar. He knew he was dying and he gave closure to that beloved character as a final gift to his fans.

His later song, Ashes To Ashes had a reference to this with the line "My mama says, to get things done, you better not mess with Major Tom.." As for the new / tribute 2013 version, the video has the advantage being first ever done in the real space station ISS. The lyrics have also been altered with references to existing technology such as Soyuz space capsule hatch. Also the mission ends safely. :)

All right Major Tom is reference in David Bowie songs space oddity, ashes to ashes, hallo spaceboy, new killer star, black star. And finally a German singer. Peter schilling continued that and finished this story under Major Tom. it was an 80s song. Of course Elton John rocket Man was that reference as well

David Bowie is one of the greatest musicians ever. You need to check out "The Man who sold the World" live on "Saturday Night Live".

Notice Bowie is using his head voice here. His early work was all in head voice, like he hadn't discovered how beautiful his throat, or deep chest voice was. This is the version I love.

This was the December 1975 version...the best...and my favourite David Bowie song (conceived in 1969).

If you want a Christmas song for the holidays, you REALLY should find the duet of the little drummer boy performed by David Bowie and Bing Crosby. Will not disappoint.

I love David Bowie! You should check out his album "Black Star". It was his last album before he died. In fact the title track is the final chapter to Major Tom. He was a genius and they definitely do not make them like him anymore. 🖤💜R.I.P. David...we will see you sooner than later💜🖤
