I'm coming up on 40 years of playing drums and I swear when it comes to crisp technique, groove and musicality, this guy is still a head above any other drummer I am aware of. It's amazing to hear drumming in which you know pretty much every note is perfection.

I'm inclined to affirm that maybe Dave is the best drummer alive.

I know most of us are here for Dave, myself included, but damn, that is some of the most beautiful keys playing I've heard. Oz's percussive keyboard style plus his beautiful phrasing is a perfect match for Dave's playing. Duo Perfection!

Heh. Got that right ;) There's an old joke: comedians go dark and check out other comedians to get new ideas. Well, drummers do the same thing, only -- they go check out Dave Weckl. "What's his new thing? How's he do that?" And the world (at least the music world) is a better place for it.

The first time l heard Weckl, I was amazed so much (on Dave Weckl Masterplan CD). Never before I was hear this kind of playing. He inspired me to explore his concepts and learn other sides of drumming. So clean, precise, great touch and feel!

Super tight and pushing forward without sacrificing the loose feel. Beautiful musical ideas within the dense structure of the songs. And in the solo he gears up like there is no tomorrow. Dave reached the point where the complex stuff he plays is always elegant. That is true mastery.

Yes Dave Weckl will always be my Number 1 drummer in the world with so much versatility and perfect rhythm timing in any of the many styles of drum styles he plays,,, just pure talent /passion 👏😎

Of all my “Drum Heros”, and there are many, Dave Weckl is my favorite. His feel, vocabulary and phrasing is so unique and precise. I can listen all day and night.... I have had the pleasure of meeting him. He is very nice and personable. I am grateful for having the opportunity..... Thanks for sharing this video.

By far, Dave is my favorite drummer of all time. I can watch and listen to him play all day long.

I've played piano back in the day; always wanted to play drums but I've never as much sat down in front of a set. I don't know the meanings of all the various 'drum moves' or how they're done - but my ears work just fine and I'm telling you, I've never heard anything like this guy. If this piece doesn't get you fired up, you're dead.

First seen Dave play nearly 30 years ago. I used to buy VHS tapes from a local drum store of my favourite drummers. Dave is a LEGEND.

I'll say it again; Put this tune on first thing every day and your days will all be good! Thanks DAVE!!!

There are masters and there are grand masters, Dave has clearly ascended upon the throne of grand mastery. So fortunate to be able to appreciate his skill, talent and mastery. He’s come a long way since French Toast and I’ve been following his career since then.

I saw Dave Weckl do a live clinic when I worked at Thoroughbred Music in Tampa back in about 1986 or 1987. He is the best drummer I have seen. Amazing chops and stamina like none other.

Best music store Tampa had or will ever have. They don't make em' like that anymore. Took lessons next door with Benny Sudano when I was 15. RIP Benny & RIP Elliot Manager of the Drum Dept.

THOSE PHRASES MAN !!! THOSE UNBELIEVABLE, CLEAN AND SUPER MUSICAL PHRASES DAVE PLAYS WHEN HE DOES HIS SOLOS. THAT'S WHY HE HAS BEEN ONE OF MY TOP FAVOURITE AND MOST INFLUENTIAL DRUMMERS FOR 20 YEARS. STILL AMAZES ME LIKE THE FIRST TIME.

Absolutely. Weckl's precision, flow, and phrasing, Vinnie's rhythmic capacity, power, and technique, and Gadd's pocket, musical sense, and bag of tricks, and all of their touch and feel, is what it's all about

There is no better phrasing in music today. Dave Weckl is pure Mozart on the kit.

Oz is awesome and Dave is wonderful. How not to love?

Dave you are by far my all-time favorite jazz fusion drummer. You're on another level!!! All you young drummers and musicians out there I encourage you to learn from Dave. Watch, listen, practice. Aspire to be as great as Dave. Love Oz too! #MusicianshipAtItsBest

Happened upon this purely by accident. Holy hell what a drummer - blown away. Love the bass and keyboards too.

I always love his washy, bright cymbal sound. Many cymbals nowadays sound too crisp, dry, even in cheerful music.

Outstanding and inspirational. Would love to see these two collaborate more.

amazing, and as a musician myself, my secret dream is to see Dave playing with AC/DC.

I've been lucky to see Dave 3 times live - twice in the early 2000's with the Dave Weckl Band, and then in 2018 with Mike Stern... Simply stunning, so complex without being wanky or ever loosing the groove! (I live in Australia so seeing big name fusion players is kinda rare)

The one and only Dave Weckl. Thanks for giving me the biggest inspiration to want to play drums. I remember being shown a video of you playing with the Electric Band in my early days of playing around a good friend of mine house Guy Richman (Boyzone, Wicked). I knew from that moment on what I wanted to do. A year or so later you were a big name with your first video release Back to Basics and i have never looked back. Thanks Dave you have played your part in shaping I am sure thousands of drummers through what you do over the years and I for one will always be grateful Paul

Dave's getting better because he doesn't bang hard on the drum's, he plays the drum's as musically as possible.

Amazing feel and groove!

I had the pleasure of seeing Dave and his band twice at Zanzibar in Philly, which is now closed. What an amazing talent to experience up close, he was all that and a can of whip cream to say the least.
