Welcome to the Letterman KZread Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. The language may strike you as quaint & flowery, the clothing comically lacey & ornate - but that’s how things were back in this colorful and now bygone era.

She actually got a chance to host her own talk show once, "Late Show Starring Joan Rivers", in 1986. It was the first show to ever be broadcast on the Fox network when it launched. The show itself didn't last too long though.

I’m not sure about Estelle Getty, but Judge Judy and Joan Rivers were in fact good friends. I didn’t know this until reading this comment. I confirmed it & there’s an interview on here with Judge Judy and Melissa Rivers and Judge Judy talks about their friendship and how much she misses her. Both amazing women and legends of their craft!

Added Carson never invited her back as a guest on the Tonight Show. Joan was genuinely hurt, she believed Johnny was a close friend and would be happy for her news. Johnny and his ego took the news as a betrayal.

Hr should have a reminder that Joan was the first permanent guess host for Carson even before Leno.

Joan was probably the best female comic of all time and certainly one of the all time greats overall. It's sad that she felt she needed to get all that plastic surgery done.

Courageous comedian who trailed the path for female comedians. Right up there with Lucille Ball, Carol Burnette, Betty White, and even May Wessssss!

I saw her in California 2 weeks before she died. She was coughing a lot on stage and she cut her show short. Rest in Peace.
