Welcome to the Letterman KZread Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. The language may strike you as quaint & flowery, the clothing comically lacey & ornate - but that’s how things were back in this colorful and now bygone era.

She actually got a chance to host her own talk show once, "Late Show Starring Joan Rivers", in 1986. It was the first show to ever be broadcast on the Fox network when it launched. The show itself didn't last too long though.

I’m not sure about Estelle Getty, but Judge Judy and Joan Rivers were in fact good friends. I didn’t know this until reading this comment. I confirmed it & there’s an interview on here with Judge Judy and Melissa Rivers and Judge Judy talks about their friendship and how much she misses her. Both amazing women and legends of their craft!

Exactly! Worst, he blackballed her when she told him FOX gave her a talk show. It was talked about Carson was furious and refused to speak to Joan. Added Carson never invited her back as a guest on the Tonight Show. Joan was genuinely hurt, she believed Johnny was a close friend and would be happy for her news. Johnny and his ego took the news as a betrayal.
Such a legend, and I'm so grateful to have met her in person years ago at the Spago restaurant on the Sunset Strip! Joan was very nice, took a few minutes to chat, when I informed her I had tickets to her late night show on FOX. Fast forward 3 weeks, went to see her show, and due to meeting her, was able to get 2nd row seats right in front of her! 🤗 I cried when she passed, and still miss her to this day.!😢

Imagine had she been alive, in this present day, what she’d have commented on about 45s diaper?! 😂
She was brilliant and brave..
Joan was a survivor and she was never cruel she used to say don't ever do someone what you wouldn't want done to yourself
I was lucky enough to have seen her live back on July 7,2013 @ Foxwoods Casino in CT & she was absolutely amazing. She offended everybody. It didn’t matter what color you were, your sexuality, whether you were heavy or thin she just said it all and none of us could stop laughing because it was just so funny. She was amazing live.
