I have seen so many people go crazy watching Rob in this song. Next suggestion, American Pie with Don McLean. Each member of the group takes a verse. Don McLean requested Home Free for the 50th anniversary of the song.

Rob absolutely killed it! When HF was on the Sing-Off, Shawn Stockman of B2M was one of the judges, was quite complimentary to HF. No way was HF going to mess up Shawn's & B2M best song! BTW you are "Mayday" ready.

I used to listen to this Boyz II Men song so many times. Home Free puts its own twist on it while keeping the respect for the original, so now it's the turn of this version. Rob killed it. There is so much soul in his voice. Beautiful!!! But I know that without the other members it would never have sounded so perfect. But that is precisely what Home Free is the number 1 A-Cappella group for me. One by one, everyone has an important contribution. Everyone has their own specialty. And then the glue of the group Adam with his unbelievably inhuman beatboxing/vocal percussion/mouth sounds. Although it is of course even if it is a song without beatboxing it sounds great because of the great background vocals.

AAAA++++ rating for the review...... This group does their own interpretation, yet they do a nice job of bringing what Boys To Men intended too. What genre can they not cover......... just saying they are one of the most diverse groups out there doing it all a capella. The flip side to this is most bands with instrumentals would have a very tough time being as diverse as Home Free, Dave thanks again for a very tough but fair reaction to Home Free. Love your enthusiasm and joy you bring to your reviews.

I have to disagree with you on a couple of matters. First they NEVER do an exact copy of the original song. They pay homage to the original but ALWAYS make it their own so anyone expecting it to be exactly like the original is going to be disappointed. Second, that wasn't exactly a dance move Tim did. He simply stepped back to the group and if you noticed several times Rob and Austin clenched their fists while singing. I don't think any of them were trying to be B2Z but were simply performing a song they enjoyed listening to and they did it beautifully. I did love the reaction and knew you would be happy at their version.

I agree. Overall good review, but I disagree with the remark about Tim when he rejoined his group. I hope the performance dispelled Dave’s fears of it being “cringy”… I am in my 60’s and have been around the block. a couple of times - men in their 30’s and 40’s are certainly capable of feeling love at an even deeper level than men in their teens and twenties.

@@sandidean6388 I agree Sandi. I'm in my sixties and have found that MOST men in their teens and twenties aren't really sure what they're feeling sometimes and as they used to say are sowing thier oats rather than looking for someone to spend their lives with. It's not till most of them are in their middle to late twenties they start thinking about what it means to spend their life with someone and don't cringe at the thought. There was nothing cringy about this song though and I can't think of a song HF has done that cringy in any way. Have you seen their new one released today? Brother It's fabulous lol

Dave, from what I heard, when they decided to do this song, they spoke with Shawn Stockman... He was one of the judges when Home Free won the sing off so they knew him well before covering this song... There was some issue between the group and Michael McCary when he quit the group in 2003 due to having MS, he was the original bass singer that added in the talking part... So the reason was never told but they left it out per the bands request...

You never have to worry about these guys. They never disappoint & always more than do justice to a song as you can see in this cover of "End Of The Road". They did an amazing job of this song! They can do any genre including R&B. Rob's voice has so much feeling & soul in it. Austin adding his higher tones, Chance harmonizing in the back, Tim adding some bass & Adam with his fabulous vocal percussion. These guys are my favorite a cappella group out there. All their songs are good whether it is serious, heart warming or funny.

Home Free never ceases to amaze me. The talent within this group of guys is almost unbelievable. Nothing in their performances seems like filler because every note, phrase, pause, harmony - everything serves a purpose. Harmonies, solos, bass, beat boxing - all on point and beautiful as we've come to almost take for granted. They crushed this cover. You will come to discover that Home Free has the most amazing musical instincts and appropriate to the material sense about them that you will never doubt them. They will put their own unique spin on songs, but retain the integrity of it. And yeah. Home Free has the sex appeal, boy do they ever. Just ask us lady Home Fries. Thanks for the awesome reaction! I can't wait for you to react to Adam Rupp drum solo from 2015 (red shirt). The first time I saw it I had to pick my jaw up off the floor.

Dave, another great reaction to our guys! Even though they pay respect to the original when they cover songs, they still add their own "special sauce" which makes their covers even more magical than the originals, in my opinion. Who wants to hear an exact replica of the original? That would be boring to me! These guys "upgrade" most everything they do with their incredible arrangements!😊

I am glad the you liked this song. Rob and the boys killed it! One thing that bothers me is that you want them to cover a song exactly like the original artist. I think it is great that they make songs their own, and arrange them to best fit their voices and style. They are always respectful of the original rendition of whatever they do. I know you want to listen to songs that you know, but I think that you should give some of their originals a try. “Dreamer” and “Catch Me if You Can” are my current favorites of their originals.

It was fun watching you stress over whether they could pull this one off, knowing how good it was. I think that skipping past the talking part to Tim taking the lead on the “lonelies” worked really well. And Rob’s runs are so musically strong without being overdone, and incredibly passionate towards the end. If you listen carefully, the choruses have these high notes all the way through in the background, which are the same notes that you thought were missing. They sound a bit like keyboard sounds, but of course they’re making them with their voices. How about “Can’t Stop The Feeling” next for a really fun change of pace.

I've made it through your Home Free reactions - now I have to recommend VoicePlay - they complete the A Capella trifecta. I recommend starting off with Carry On Wayward Son, Eleanor Rigby, Just Sing (collab with many artists at Lockdown time and you need to use the subtitles to get some of the jests) or My Mother Told Me (Viking Song). Also another great artist who works with all of these guys is Peter Hollens - Misty Mountain (with Tim Foust) or Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For (with Home Free)

As I was watching your reaction, I was excited to see your reaction to Rob going off! Now you see why he is sometimes called the soul of the group. He has soulful quality in his voice that was needed on this song and it does show up in many others. They did change up a few things but respected the original song and made their version. Which I am fine with! One of my favorites with Rob as lead is "Catch Me If You Can" which I believe is an original. But if you really want to get to know the guys, you need to check out one of their funny ones. They are willing to make fun of themselves and let us see their humor but the vocals never suffer. They make one silly and one serious for each Valentine's Day so for funny there it would be "Make You Feel My Love" or "I Swear" They also love to prank us for April Fools so that would include "Butt's Medley" (pre Chance song) and "Never Gonna Give You Up"(a classic) They also did a humorous video for "Workin' For A Livin'" and near the beginning of lockdown (which we all needed) they did a parody song called "Quarantine" They also did "Country Fried Pop Medley" (another pre-Chance) that is so cool and funny as well. It is nice to check out the funny ones as you can tell the guys just love what they do!

Enjoyed you reaction. HF never copies a song; they make it their own, and it’s often better than the original. One of their best covers is their rendition of John Denver’s “Take Me Home Country Roads”; it’s amazing. For a beautiful Chance lead, please react to “I Can’t Outrun You”. It’s pure 5 part harmony, and Chance directed the video. For some humor,”Champagne Taste (on a beer budget), written by Tim, and he leads. Another fun one is “Butts Medley “, a mashup of songs. HF can sing ANYTHING.

Sean from Boyz II Men was one of the judges on The Sing-Off when they won that competition. You should definitely go back and listen to their performances from that show. You can find them all on KZread.

@@davesmith3713 Just go into it knowing that they sang it in the same key that the original singer did. It was a song by Cam. I suggest you listen to her version (or just a part of it) first, give you some perspective.

Blue-eyed soul is in good hands with The Beard.... Rob really cut loose with this one. He was always good, but he really let it all out in this song and never looked back. He just got so much better after this, and I didn't think that was possible.

Now, would you want HF to cover your song? LOL The talent each of these guys have. Country, pop, rock, Christian, soul or blue grass, they are the best.

I was thinking before you started the video that if you didn’t like this one, I would have to give up on you. Lol I love all of their talent, but I consider this Rob’s real breakout song because I had never seen him give so much of himself prior to this song. He and Austin sang their hearts out! I loved your reaction very much! Yes!! I will be sticking around! I knew you would love it!

We’ll forgive Tim this dance move because he and Adam kill the dancing in the live shows. For real. 🤤 They aren’t called the rhythm section just for their vocals, lemme tell ya.
