Man I love your tone. It’s so balanced to me. Focused not thin, lively and warm, not shrill or dull at all. Powerful but not “ arrogant “ . Complex not boring. A mix between traditional and modern that could fit perfectly in either setting. Great playing as well by the way.

Hey Dave, Sounds great man. Question, I was talking to mark at 10m Fan and was considering the Robusto or Merlot. When I spoke with Joel Frahm he is a huge fan of the Robusto overall and still digs the Merlot. have you gotten a chance to try these or just the classic? Sounds so flexible and you sound lyrical

Hey man! Thanks so much. I did play both the Robusto and Merlot. I liked the Merlot over the Robusto, and the Classic way more than both. The Merlot I would say is "in between" the Classic and Robusto- it's pretty warm but still has some punch to it. The Robusto really kicks, which doesn't fit how I play- they all sound good!

Dave Pollack that’s what I’ve been hearing! What piece did you play before this? Or what would you compare it too? Also did you have to switch reed sizes or smaller/larger tip opening? I’ve heard these piece are very versatile with just the slight adjustment of a reed size

I was on a stock otto link rubber, 7*. I actually went down half a reed size (from 3 hard to 3 medium) for the Classic- seemed to speak a bit better using the softer reed.

Hey Dave, awesome tenor sound, soubds like a great piece. I was wondering if you'd ever tried any Pillinger pieces to compare with the 10MFAN pieces? It's a long time (2001?) since I've felt the need to try any tenor pieces since getting one from Ed Pillinger, which I think says a lot, so would be ace if you got the chance to do a sode by side comparison.

Sorry for the very late reply! I've actually never tried any Pillinger pieces so I can't speak on that, but if someone sent me one I'd love to play it!
