When I look at Dave's evolution, in every way, I think that Anton Corbjin unwittingly prophesied by dressing him up as a King in the 1990s for the Enjoy The Silence video. He couldn't imagine that Dave would actually become a King in world music history. The more time passes, the more imposing his figure becomes within the music scene. One of the greatest vocalists in history, breathtaking and iconic voice, absurd charisma, exceptional stage presence, unquestionable talent. Also he is a nice guy who learned from his mistakes and knows how to live life in a simple way. His legacy with fellow Depeche Mode teammates is absolutely amazing and relevant. А по мне так все хуже и хуже. Эту песню явно не вытягивает, к сожалению. Ещё взяли пропустили вокал через какую-то примочку и ощущение теперь такое, что шепелявит. Когда слушал на Яндексе, думал запись плохая или померещилось, ан нет и здесь странная запись вокала.

Dave Gahan and Soulsavers have once again delivered a masterpiece! Dave has been my favorite singer for 38 years (first time I heard DM, 1983) and I have yet to hear anyone even come close to being able to evoke such strong emotions in me as he does. Soulsavers is the perfect vehicle for the type of haunting vocals and delivery that Dave Gahan exhibits! It is not hard to hear why this man is in such great demand in the music world! Who wouldn’t want the opportunity to say that they were able to perform and record with Dave Gahan! Whether it’s with DM, solo, or Soulsavers, Dave is the greatest vocalist I’ve ever heard.

Dave Gahan and soulsavers is a match made in heaven! You have to wait long for a new soulsavers album, but it will never disappoint! They are the best in the business to make these covers! So glad Dave got through his drug addiction unlike many others, so we still can enjoy his powerful singing to this day! Some duets with Mark Lanegan on the next soulsavers album is very welcome! :)

To be honest, when DM released "Sounds of the Universe" I thought Dave's voice is going downhill, but now, more than a decade later, my foot is in my mouth, because I think he sounds better, despite the fact dude is 59. Anyway, from all Dave Gahan + Soulsavers stuff, this song is the best one by far (I know it's a cover, but still). Great work, great sound, keep it up 👍

Yes, i ve seen them in the tour with this album and Dave's voice seemed pretty damaged, but on Spirit it was at high levels.

Long time DM fan here. Dave’s voice has been somewhat going downhill for years. While his voice “sounds” good here, the production and backing vocals enhance the aesthetic of it. He sometimes tries too hard to invoke the “spirit” of Bowie, Iggy and other favorites of his. I know style and taste changes over years, so I get it. I think pre-vibrato Martin voice would do better with the soulful sounds of this and other songs. Martin truly had a beautiful singing voice with amazing range. Production wise, the only thing missing with this song is Alan Wilder. :P

And if you’ve ever listened to Recoil (Alan’s solo gig), then you should know that he can do a lot with conventional instruments (even when mixing them with electronics). But alas, this is about Dave. Good cover song. Not an original. :P

This is one thing I've noticed about all of my favorite artists as they get older, they all for the most part only put out slow songs. When I think of Dave Gahan I never think of slow songs. I think of his legendary attitude and intensity when singing, not this slow music that he puts out every time he collaborates with Soulsavers.

In his vocal contributions he includes tones that he manages to make "hoarse" and achieve a genuine and special atmosphere. As he once said, “Condemnation” from Songs of Faith and Devotion was the song that let him know that he really had a voice to exploit ... without a doubt.

Давно не секрет, что Дейв просто работает в ДМ вокалистом и получает за это зарплату (неплохую). ДМ - это Мартин и Флетч. А то что Дейв делает "в свободное от работы время", его личное дело. Но выглядит всё как-то печально на мой скромный взгляд. Но с ДМ всё нормально, пока уникальный талант Мартина находится в добром здравии.
