Actually pretty sure a predator that was watching him would get absolutely flustered at the display of fire, and decide quickly to leave and get a more predictable meal. They are simply showing you the process and what pain you can expect from having to be forced to do something like this.

A legend? He's a dumbass. He could have just left that wound for hours and not have bled out, all he had to do was apply pressure to take controll of the bleeding then apply some clothing rags or bandages to keep the wound pressurised and covered. Would have been fine the next day or so. The blackpowder method is a one way ticket to infection and severe pain.

Well all you really need is a bullet and a match or lighter. Modern bullets use smokeless powder which burns hotter so just use less. If you're in a survival situation without a firearm that's on you or your government.

Worth pointing out that cauterization generally increases infection risk, even when done with precise tools, because heat damage makes tissue more vulnerable. Notable exception is when cauterization is used to cut off diseased tissue so it doesn't spread. Still, bleeding out kills you faster than any infection.

the worst part about this is that someone might find themselves in a survival situation and think this is a valid method to close a wound. Its not. Cauterizing is something that puts you at great risk in a survival situation, because burns are wounds that easily get infected, and short of stopping an arterial bleed, you would be better off just waiting for the bleeding to stop than risking a burn. Doing it for a simple slash on your arm is even more ridiculous.

I have these downloaded on my hard drive since 2011 by far out of all the survival shows over the last decade these two have had the best chemistry together. Dave and Cody are household names with our friends we love these guys. Fun fact dave as of a few years ago last I checked has long hair! 🤣🤯 never saw that coming. Life dream would be to see them together on a show on KZread or Rumble minus the SharkWeek episode! 🧘

My dad and I went to Dave’s survival training camp when I was probably 12. Us and the other people who signed up spent a few days camping on Dave’s property with him and some other guys as our instructors. I had a handful of one-on-one encounters with him where I asked him about his time on Dual Survivor and he showed me the differences between certain trees. He made fun of my brightly colored socks at one point. Hard-core dude, but super cool.

@@chubbyakajc that’s right, He had a piece of wood (maybe an arrow) going through his side, he had to break it off and push the rest right through his side with his thumb, that’s when he pored gunpowder on the entrance would and when he lit it you saw flames come out of the exit wound. Epic Rambo moment lol

Look at his eyes after, that shit hurt way more than he's letting on

He cut his arm open without even reacting! So for his whole body to be shaking from the gunpowder igniting, shows how truly painful this must be.

i have had molten metal go down my back and it only caused me to think someone tapped on my back and I have had salt get into wounds but that was a small area he did it over a large area

@@astillia6073 Although I have never has liquid metal on my back, THats a lot hotter than a bit of gunpower, and instantly sears the nerves. My grandfather ended up pourning liquid lead on the side of his boot, and he said that the first thing he noticed was the smell of leather burning. Obv its worse long term, he counldn't walk right even 60 years later, but in that 5 minutes, its very painless. gunpower on the otherhand, is hot, but not 2000 degrees C.

... as opposed to taking a ember and sticking it on a wound? doubt a large injury would be able to ignite with all the blood unless youre planning on blowing the limb off.

Gun powder burns at around 800°C (~1400°F) and that small amount would take less than a quarter of a second to completely deflagrate. What he did there really wouldn't be all that painful.
