Original omicron, B.1.1.529
www.who.int/en/activities/tra...
PANGO Lineage is described as a cluster of sequences that are associated with an epidemiological event,
Phylogenetic Assignment of Named Global Outbreak Lineages (PANGOLIN)
Omicron includes Pango lineage B.1.1.529 and descendent Pango lineages BA.1, BA.1.1, BA.2 and BA.3.
BA.2 is a descendent lineage
‘Omicron plus’
Identified, Philippines, then to India
www.medpagetoday.com/special-...
www.independent.co.uk/news/sc...
Omicron sublineage BA.2
10,000 cases of BA.2, 40 countries
Potentially increased transmissibility over omicron clade BA.1
U.K. Health Security Agency, VUI
Cases doubling every 4 days
120% growth advantage over original Omicron clade
(Delta to Omicron, 500% growth advantage)
Similar growth, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, India
Does not have the same s-gene target failure on PCR as omicron BA.1
BA.2 is S gene positive
BA.1, 60 mutations
BA.2, 80 mutations
www.telegraph.co.uk/global-he...
Meaghan Kall, UKHSA

no evidence at all yet that it can evade Omicron (BA.1) immunity or be different to Omicron in any meaningful way
Variants will continue to emerge, but not all variants will be a problem
Only having a transmissibility advantage at this stage of the game (with population immunity so high) isn't a total showstopper
Little difference in vaccine effectiveness between BA.1 and BA.2
Disease severity, comparable to BA.1
Unlikely to be another BA.2 omicron wave
Denmark
BA.2 now accounts for 65% of new cases
Early data, not been associated with an increase in hospitalisations
Norway
Increase in BA.2 in Oslo
Concurred that BA.2 is likely more contagious than BA.1.
Question
Can those infected with the BA.1 get re-infected with BA.2.
French Health Minister, Olivier Veran
www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/1...
What we know for now is that BA.2 more or less corresponds to the characteristics that we know of Omicron
Robert Garry, virologist Tulane University School of Medicine
www.washingtonpost.com/health...
Variants have come, variants have gone
I don’t think there’s any reason to think this one is a whole lot worse than the current version of omicron
James Musser, Center for Molecular and Translational Human Infectious Diseases Research, Houston Methodist
The good news is we have only three
We certainly do not see the 5% and more reported in the U.K
Certainly not the 40% in Denmark
We know that omicron … can clearly evade preexisting immunity,
from both vaccines and exposure to other variants of the virus,
What we don’t know yet is whether son-of-omicron does that better or worse than omicron.
So that’s an open question.
Anders Fomsgaard, virologist, State Serum Institute Denmark
BA. 2 has become the dominant form of the virus in his nation of nearly 6 million people,
where it now accounts for about 65% of new cases
as BA. 1 is on the decline
we are not so concerned, since we so far do not see major differences in age distribution, vaccination status, breakthrough infections and risk of hospitalization.
Also, despite the high infection rate of BA. 2, the numbers in ICUs are decreasing
Francois Balloux, professor of computational biology, University College, London
www.telegraph.co.uk/global-he...
BA.2 about 20 mutations apart from the original BA.1
the two omicron sub lineages are sister clades that split from other several months ago, and are not derived from each other
People infected with one of the lineages would have “robust immunity” against the other one
At this stage, BA.1 and BA.2 can be considered as two epidemiologically largely equivalent sub-lineages of omicron

In my neck of woods nurses cannot, by the rule of law, prescribe medicines and / or perform certain medical procedures (e.g. intubations etc.). That said, he's surely a great nurse and teacher and many Medical Doctors could (and should!) learn from this gentleman how to educate the public in a truthful, objective and unbiased manner.

All the while, these alleged "v ! r uses" have never once been seen or captured directly from someone's fluid sample. People don't seem to realize that virologists only "find" things in cell culture experiments. Never directly from a person's fluid sample. Meaning this whole "v ! r us" belief is just that - A Belief. Pictures of random particles in a petri dish that were never shown to come from a person don't mean "v ! r us".

Only 17,371 deaths purely from so called covid with no other underlying causes: The UK government have spent nearly 400 billion dealing with "covid". In the course of all of this we have damaged the education of millions of children, left millions of elderly lonely people in a state of depression, many left to rot in care homes with the privilege of saying good bye to close family though zoom calls, closed down hundreds and thousands of small businesses who were simply in the wrong sector and have gone bust, and we did it all because we were told that this could be an event that would kill vast numbers of people. But this new revelation has really made people sit up and think and it's this. The Freedom of Information Request was put to the Office National Statistics and it simply asked this question: "Please could advise on deaths purely from covid with no other underlying causes'. And the number 17,371. Now I know that's over 17 thousand human beings and each one of those is a tragedy... but just think about that number. Consider that nearly 1.5 million people die in this country on average every two years. We have been through two years of on off lockdowns over the past two years, rights and privileges taken away, thousands of life saving surgeries cancelled, serious illnesses undiagnosed and we find out that only 17,371 people died of covid with no other underlying conditions.

And nothing will ever bring all that wasted time back. We live in a society of old scared people. Not to mention the political use of the virus. Dr. Campbell, you make everything so fundamentally simple to understand - Thank you! Now for a larger challenge:- Can you try to explain to the government and health authorities in British Columbia, that within a couple of weeks, we will be into an endemic situation, with a disease that can and will expose itself to everyone - and that no attempts to retain all of the restrictions of 2021 are essentially useless. I could understand an initial attempt to restrict large events and even group sizes in order to slow down the spread to the point where essential service personnel are not all off work at once. BUT, we are over this short-term crisis, and well on the way to an endemic stage. Yet, the BC government are insisting on maintaining many of the restrictions, including retaining Vaccine Passports through to the end of June, 2022!!! To me this is a sad attempt to try to punish those who chose not to get the vaccine. Knowing that everyone of us, including myself who is triple vaccinated, are equally as liable to be spreading the disease. It angers me to think that politicians can use their position of power to exert one last penalty on the non-compliant anti-vaccinated; but, in doing so impose many of the restrictions on the vaccinated amongst us who deserve to enjoy the freedom that we have earned after 2 years of compliance. To me, only bullies resort to such evil practices (I will refrain from any comments on the PM of Canada - could you have a chat with Elizabeth and ask her to check out her colony across the Atlantic - we desperately need some help!!!) Thank you and do keep up your common-sense presentations.

Complying to corrupt governments will not give you the freedom you think you derserve (for bowing down and complying.) Doing so will give away your free will. My guess for the slower movement in the US is due to the greater distances for transmission. A simplified analogy is the "wave" of spectators in the sports arenas as it travels around the arena. The duration of Omicron at any given location is much shorter than other strain, but it takes time to get across the country. Here in the NY metro area where it started before Christmas, it's peaked and definitely now on the decline, but other cities and rural areas did not experience it until weeks later, and have not peaked yet. The duration of it in those areas hopefully will be similar.

Thank you Dr. Campbell. I truly appreciated your explaining so clearly. The media keeps promoting fear to the public. It's such a disgrace. May God bless you for all your good work

Thank you for all the specific info on all variants. The United States hasn’t gotten their act together on multiple levels. Leaving Americans too seek concise info from sources outside the country, such as you doctor. Thank you.

John Dr. You are amasing. I am the biggest fan. What you tell and show will not be broadcast on TV in any country and will not appear anywhere in any newspaper of the Media. Shame for the Main Stream Media. In Holland and over the world. Love from Holland.
