40 yrs ago I found a sprouting seed in my garden, I then planted it in another location and five years ago I was eating dates from it, I'm so happy that I did it, not only getting fruit but also giving me shade from the sun, I love it when I see huge bunches of fresh dates growing upon it....

Tip--on the Date Palm seed there’s the side with the slit and opposite to that is the flat/smooth side, the initial growth comes out of the flat/smooth side and wants to grown down. After growing down for a few inches (about 3~4”)it will send up the first leaves. If you look close enough you’ll see a little circular indentation...happy growing :-)

Most of the time Dates palms growen from seeds doesn't produce fruits. You need to remove the small Date palms from under a big tree which is called the mother. This way you get a copy of the mother plant. Growing from seeds will mostly produce Male trees.
