    Palms first root grows really deep, so how that root develops allows the palm to grow faster o slower. Pot size depends on whether you want it fast growing or small sized; -Small Shallow Pot: The Palm will grow the slowest in this pot, best suited for keeping Indoors. -Big Shallow Pot: Also best suited for indoor palms, it allows a thicker trunk, but the palm will keep growing slowly. -Small deep Pot: The palm will have a thin trunk and will grow like crazy, the best suited for obtaining height really fast. -Big deep Pot: Definitely the best pot suited for most Palms, it allows the Palm to grow to it's full capacity. Cheers.

    I have several date palm seedlings growing in yoghurt & ice cream containers,I started germinating them using the zip lock bag & absorbent paper towel method because grubs started burrowing into the seeds outdoors. I soaked them for 24 hours to remove the pulp from the seeds & to speed up germination, I skipped the ziplock bag method when potting them,they actually love the hot weather once they have established themselves, one I've had growing for over a year loved last summer where it spent the odd 42°C day in full sunlight since the date palm is a desert plant,they don't need much water. I'm growing several of them because I can never be sure which one is male or female, they are sexual plants & need both sexes of plants to grow dates !

    That sounds great, congratulations on successfully growing date palms. A lot of people are just wondering how they can grow it thats why I put my effort to make it r simple to understand. You are very right they are male and female and i hope you know that the female flowers have to be hand pollinated. Felt good to hear from you Russell and I would love to hear more tips and suggestions ahead. I really appreciate your comment. Thank you. Have a good one and please do stay with our channel for a little support.

    Yes, the date palms get germinated by luck naturally as the pollen gets blown the male to the female flower by wind,unlike the Bangalow palm which is native in my country (Australia) & is also native to Indonesia (Papua New Guinea) which is naturally pollinated by bees, I have about 10 of them growing as seedlings as well !

    One of them died but the rest are.doing well,I have planted 5 more sprouted seeds so now I have 12 of them. They are very slow growing & they love the heat more than the other types of palms such as the Bangalow palm which is native to Australasia as I lost a couple of them which were not very big on a 45°C day during summer. The date palms love the heat however & they can tolerate the dry weather better because we were in drought in December-January,now in February, it's wetter which is good because we're getting some rain !

However, some of them have sort of shrunk, they are still as tall but are now much thinner, they are no longer flat, it is like it has scrunched up and they are the shape of a skewer (so rounded and tall). I wish I could add a photo. Please let me know if you have advice. I don't know if it is under watering, over watering, they don't have enough nutrients etc?

  • @myalivesoul

    @myalivesoul

    5 жыл бұрын

    If you are growing from seeds - we never know the plant is male or female unless they bear flowers and only the female bear fruits so that is uncertain business. For growing commercially I would recommend buying plants from some nurseries particularly of female type and growing them. In general they take almost 8-10 years to yield fruits(there are some hybrid varieties which can yield in 4-8years too - need to search them) and we need to hand pollinate the female flowers for the best result. The air or bees pollination is not so effective. I would say that there is a lot of hard work and long time patience required to actually get result out of them so now you can decide dai what is better. Let us k ow dai if you need more information! Have a great day..!

    Latex is nothing else than just to show the viewers clearly what I am doing in the video. There is nothing much special reason Bush. Sorry if I put you in trouble because of that. Regarding the palm tree they grow very large adult plant is up-to 75ft tall. Yes these plants are very slow to grow. They generally take 8-10 years to bear fruit in them unless it is some kind of hybrid variety. Basically if you want to make bonsai and use them as decorative purpose in the beginning years that would look much better. So fare Bush we are liking here, thank you very much for your concerns and supports. God Bless

    The only way to know male and female is when they flower. Male bears pollens which should be hand pollinated to female flowers. Or if you have any nurser around they can give you specific male or female plant. It might take 3-4 years to get flowers if proper environmental conditions are set.
