DATA EAST Arcade Games
In this compilation (extended version) we will see all DATA EAST Arcade games, not only are the best or the most successful, this time I bring you their entire catalog, which becomes a video of a high educational level and also of game preservation.
info Data East (データイースト; dēta īsuto) was a Japanese video game company also known as DECO. Its Japanese headquarters were in Tokyo and its US subsidiary, Data East USA, in San Jose, California. Data East was founded by Tetsuo Fukuda on April 20, 1976 as an electronic engineering company. He started designing video games in 1979. In 1999 the company was restructured, stopping designing games.
Data East proved to be one of the most successful and enduring companies in the business, surviving the video game crash of 1983 in reasonably good shape and releasing dozens of games for arcade systems and home consoles over the next two decades. Some of the most famous games from their 1980s heyday included Karate Champ, Heavy Barrel, Burgertime, Bad Dudes Vs. Dragon Ninja, Sly Spy, RoboCop, Bump 'n' Jump, and Ring King

Night Slashers were so good that time , remember seeing it as a kid in 90s at the arcade !
Data East was up there as some of the biggest Arcade names like Capcom, Sega, Midway, Konami etc...

They had a handful of hits, but not quite the track record of the others mentioned.

@@juliohernandez3323 Yeah, they were probably a step below the others he mentioned, but they were still great. You could call them a 2nd tier developer, and Taito would go into that category as well. Always been a fan of both of them.

@@JMFSpike No doubt. I liked Robocop and Bad Dudes the most. Taito was another somewhat underrated developer too.

@@JMFSpike I would say the difference is, while it's NOT slight at all against Data East who were great, Taito had Space Invaders. THE first arcade mega-hit after Pong, and THE first real "Shooter" game, which all others for years after copied. And while not AS big/influential a hit, they also had Bubble Bobble in the 80s, which itself was a major success, and also basically spawned an entire "sub-genre" of game, that kind of "Clear this single screen of enemies" platformer. And of course, spun off from that, was my personal favorite puzzle series, Puzzle Bobble! :-)

@@juliohernandez3323 Come on man Bad Dudes!!!!!!!!!!
It's incredible that such brilliant game quality was available so long ago.
In South Korea, most of these games were in the corner beside the main games in trend. And I used to watch and play them. I missed the old times.
Data East really did produce some classics. Bad Dudes I think was my favourite!!!!!

The Data East console and the handheld can't believe they just had a few games 7 NES titles and a bunch of bootlegs games . was hoping they made a Console emulator that played the Arcades from 80s and 90s .. Data East were heavy hitters like Capcom and Konami back in the arcade days..
I like the Data East Classic Games. My favorite game is Crude Buster. Data East. May 11, 1991.
It's like Data East was way ahead of it's time and developers like Konami were inspired by many of its games

Mis favoritos son: Street hoop, Windjammers, Tumble pop, Mutant fighter, gal pocket deluxe,
Joe and Mac Returns, Mutant Fighter, Side Pocket and many more. Those were my favorites.
Karnov - Bad Dudes - Robocop - Sly Spy - Act Fancer - Hippodrome - Midnight Resistance - Crudebusters - Caveman Ninja - Desert Assault - Tumblepop - Street Hoop were my favourite games from '87 to '94 in our local arcade saloon. Had many friends that we still in contact after all these years.

Don't forget they published KARATE CHAMP!!! The original 1v1 fighting game
This was very interesting and fun to watch, thank you for all the work you put into it!
-Grandes Juegos!
wow! Lock On looks so advanced for a 1986 game 19:00
That Cobra Command game looks incredible for that time period
Gracias y enhorabuena.
Atomic Runner and Joe&Mac: caveman ninja. Good!
The animations on Skater, at 9:42, are silky smooth.
Data East was action games kingdom.

Had some great classics. Mate it published Karate Champ. The original 1v1 Fighting game. Not to mention Bad dudes which had the greatest soundbites when the guys got hit!!
It was really cool to see some of those old obscure games on this list. This is why I will never get rid of my Wii. it has the Data East collection including Heavy Barrell. As far as I know, there is no other commercially released version of that game
The fat firebreathing guy appears in quite a few titles. It gets funny once you start to notice it 😄
My Top 10 Favorite Data East Arcade Game of All-time 10. Pro Bowling 9. Secret Agent 8. Cobra-Command 7. Ice Cream Factory 6. The Real Ghostbusters 5. Side Pocket 4. Bad Dudes 3. Heavy Barrel 2. Breakthru 1. Astro Fighter
I got Karnov on the NES. Still one of the harder games I played as a kid. Dropped a lot of coin on Sly Spy and Bad Dudes. Have Karate Champ on NES as well. Nostalgia.
Burger time is one of the best video game ever made
The arrangement of BGM of Bad Dudes to listen to very last was the thing which flowed where, or this sounded through my heartstrings very much!
I've never seen Heavy Smash before. The goalie being launched into an explosion made me laugh, this should be a real sport.

If Konami, Capcom, Namco etc.. were MGM and Tri-Star, Data East was Cannon Fims of Arcade games, cheesy as hell but incredibly fun and bat-shit crazy.

Data east made the greatest video games.
Awesome video

Dang. Speed Buggy looked really good for the time. Great scaling effects, resolution and what looks like a polygon or two.
this company has games that make you dream, windjammers magical drop and boogie wings i can play them for hours 🎉🎉🎉
18:20 He rescues people by giving them *parachutes* with which to jump *out of buildings* ? That game was *BASEd* ! 😝 (I'll see myself out now.)
Nice video and so many memories. Data East was one of my favourite Arcade manufacturers. A bit of critism for your future videos, turn off the Bilinear Filtering and Scan Lines, it does not do these wonderful games justice.
In captain silver it looks like you are in beauty and the beast playing a blonde gastone slaying beasts with your sword.😂

FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY, @18:54 I have been searching for the name of that game for 30 years!!!!! "Lock On" Data East!!! No internet search could find "1980s Yoke fighter game". At 51yrs old I FINALLY FOUND IT!
Data east memories
A ton of their games are inferior knockoffs but there was always a particular charm with the cheesiness of Data East games that I love

Where is Kung Fu Master?? Edit: Kung Fu Master is on the Irem list.
Data East were just so fucking weird, even when compared to other Japanese developers.
Chelnov, Karnov, Bad Dudes and Robocop were the best
Holeeee... What a load of ripoffs Data East pulled! No wonder they got sued by Capcom for Fighter's Story... Many of the late 70's and early 80's games here I saw the originals in the arcades but never Data East's clones... I mean... Galaxian, Moon Cresta, Space Invaders, Qbert, Tempest, etc... Geez dude... I loved me Joe & Mac, Captain America & The Avengers, Two Crude, etc...But these clones? Shameless...

even sf vs capcom are ripped off badly.
@Retrorevelations
Dude, back in the early days of video games in the 70s and 80s, EVERYONE was "cloning" the big hits. Literally everyone. Even Atari, Nintendo and Sega. Konami did it. Capcom did it. Namco did it. Everyone was trying to get a piece of that Space Invaders/Pac-Man/Galaga/You-Name-It pie. And as far as copying SF goes, maybe few did it as blatantly, but a TON of companies tried to copy SFII also. Including SNK originally. Data East was a great game developer. And frankly, making "clones" of popular games isn't a black mark against them at all, as was pointed out, "Everyone was doing it".
@YeOldeGamerGrampsofOlde
@@Retrorevelations And where exactly did I write about any _"black marks"_ ? I merely pointed out the games Data East ripped off and how ripping off so much got them sued by Capcom. If I wanted to, I could have put how Heavy Barrel is a blatant ripoff of Ikari Warriors (which itself is a ripoff of Taito's Front Line, down to the dial + joystick in one controller design). Same with Contra and Midnight Resistance. Of course Data East had its own creativity and original games... They just happened to ripoff too much which is what I pointed out.

Dang, since data east been around so long either everyone else used their ideas or Data East had no creativity whatsoever and no ideas of their own. If they did feed off the other companies that much, that's pathetic. It does seem like they just follow the times and the trend of the games they see and try to make their own version basically and feed off that. I hope not. How did they make it so far doing that?! Just WOW
