@@klord-is9ft The video is from Victoria, I believe. The lines are correctly painted (albeit worn). Here in Victoria the turning guide lines are kept to your right while turning, but I know other states (NSW?) guide lines are painted on the left of where you should turn. Subtle difference to catch you out when travelling interstate! ;) The drivers should still have sighted the "Keep Left" sign before committing to the turn.
7:30 Tip of the hat for submitting your own video
Out of all these videos, I only saw one person apologize for their mistake. A simple wave to acknowledge your error can take a lot heat out of a situation on the road.

The “sorry wave” seems to be spreading though, for the wrong reasons, as an “I’m more important than you” wave after they’ve done a deliberate arsehole move. Just this afternoon in slower than normal traffic I watched one young driver go out on the shoulder and cut back in, giving the “sorry” wave to each person who had to slam on their brakes to avoid a collision. 3 times in less than 2 minutes. Once, OK, that might be brain fade, but to keep on doing it is just super-entitled behaviour.

It definitely helped in the last crash I was in. Guy changed lanes into me. When we stopped he got out and immediately threw his hands up in the air, head down, and said "sorry, that's on me". Actual shame and owning up to his mistake. Probably helped that he was an older guy, not some entitled kid driving Daddy's fancy car.

@tin2001

@@hughmiller925 2 seconds is absolute minimum. It leaves almost zero room for brief distractions like turning the radio volume up or down, adjusting air-conditioning or even checking your mirrors. It's also important to remember to add extra distance if the vehicle ahead is lighter than what you're driving. 2 seconds doesn't leave room for that either. A 1T hatchback stopping to avoid a child running out is going to stop a lot quicker than a heavy 4WD ute loaded with heavy tools.
@hughmiller925
10 ай бұрын
@tin2001 ah indeed. A 3 second count is what I think I meant. 1, 2, 3. At or above 80kp/h. It can be hard to maintain when it is a common practice, for many cars to change lanes into the gap ahead you have ahead of you, generally not allowing enough space for a safe manuover. The gap stealers are plenful and generally move across with a buffer of approx, .5 a car length.

It still amazes me people that see an issue ahead and continue to drive towards it full speed. Ok so someone has pulled across the traffic. Slow down let them in and move on, don’t use your sense of entitlement and I’m in the right attitude to cause a bigger issue.

I think you're being sarcastic, but let's have fun with that idea. 😁 Frankly, I don't see a problem with some of us putting our two cents' worth into the conversation. My ONLY at-fault accident was in 1997, when I had my license for just over three years, and it was car vs. tree. My last speeding ticket, technically a written warning, was for 33 mph in a 25 mph zone, in 2008. Not entirely unblemished, but as far as my DMV and insurance company are concerned, my record is pristine, and my insurance premiums reflect that. I have to carry $100,000 coverage on both of my vehicles for my job, so there's a huge financial incentive to drive safely and keep my record clean. As an additional point, my mother (currently 67 years old) has had zero tickets and zero accidents in her entire lifetime. So people with unblemished driving records DO exist.
