I feel like Vader would catch Maul of guard as Vader's current form, form 2 is Maul's type of form 7's weakness. Vader is also good at blocking hits fast and striking, but Maul is still a serious fighter.

I think it's just his reputation with force choking imperial officers. The comment above mentioned this but I think Vader didn't brandish his force choking on storm troopers as he did Imperial officers seeing as when he was Anakin he actually had troopers as friends and probably respects them more than the officers since they're more often doing the actual fighting along side him

in lego skywalker saga when you play as Vader all NPCs either salut to you or shaking and running away screaming ahaha It's pretty much fun also when you doing a gameplay as Jedi and change to Vader or other sith clones or trooprs stopping attacking you, finally I can feel like real Vader :>

@@AnotherZenThought I beg to differ, he knew that was Anakin and probably thought killing him would undo Plagues plan by accidentally creating the "chosen one" or capture Anakin to train him to be a sith.

Besides the metal "Myself" moment, I love the ending. There is a pause before Vader gets up and reaffirms his loyalty to Palpatine. He clearly gets that Palps knew and was gonna let him die, but he still goes along with it, because he's the only thing he has left.

I feel like maul has the upper hand in lightsaber combat and definitely agility but Vader is much more powerful in the force and raw power.

Not a chance, Vader is pretty much the best sith duelist ever. Maul was only trained in Juyo (form 7) and Nimen form 6 (not mastered) Vader is a master all 7 forms, and uses an amalgamation of all of them blended into form 5. Maul fell for a quick bait in by old Obi Wan and was defeated in less than 5 seconds. He tried using the exact same technique he used to kill Qui Gon. Vader wouldn't fall for something like that. Maul would get slapped around by Vader like it was child's play.

I think it’s obvious Vader eventually greatly surpassed the power level he had on Mustafar. There’s a difference between losing much of his unprecedented natural potential and not continuing to grow after his injuries.

Not sure. Just before Mustafar he slaughtered the entire Jedi Temple which housed hundreds, if not thousands of Jedi. I don't think Vader ever achieved anything like that after Mustafar.

@@jodofe4879 simply because there weren't enough jedi to do that. Just because he hasn't done that since becoming vader doesn't mean he couldn't, he just never had the opportunity to do so. But it's accepted that vader is the absolute best jedi killer in galactic history.

Uh... remember that Anakin was literally conceived by the Force and had no true father except the Force itself. Vader didn't adopt the dark side, he was LITERALLY an offspring of the dark side (and the light).

Weird to think Maul almost ran Anakin over with a speeder when Anakin was a child.

I honestly love that Maul just sees a child running over the sands, and with little to no context in regards to said child’s identity makes an executive decision to mow him down with a speeder.

I feel that with the new obi wan series, that line Vader says about who he could possibly hate more than his former master or enemies being himself, is going to be an insane drop

I'd really, really, REALLY love a Darth Maul series. Even if just 1 season because he is hands down one of my favorite villains in Star Wars.

That said I think with SW: Survivor, that is the "new" Starkiller for Disney, I do hope Sam Witwer appears somewhere in Disney cannon, either as Darth Maul or another powerful Jedi, cause I think Cal is going down that journey of being the Jedi to help bring balance to Luke's story (instead of it being Malek sadly)

I hate that Star Killer is no longer canon just because of how absolutely badass he was. Dude took out Vader with ease twice and in the light side ending held off the Emperor which is no easy feat considering just how powerful he is. Also I'd just want it just for the memes of them looking and sounding alike 🤣

It's unfortunate we never got to see them meet in canon, but Filoni made the right call with Ahsoka vs Vader and Maul vs Obi Wan.

@@noahrogers9031 fax. a disciplined anakin would have (sadly) wiped the floor with obi-wan in their battle on mustafar, but anakin was neither using his full skill nor was he skilled in the dark side at that point, having only just begun to taste his power. He was cocky in imitating obi-wan's combat techniques trying to taunt him rather than using his own as well as brashly rushing in at a point when a more calculated strike would have been appropriate simply because he believed too much in his own brute force alone

@@mtnentertainment3454 agreed, I even did some research on it and I found that anakin was better than obi wan, his only problem is in him being young, he was very ambitious and impatient, as compared to obi wan who was more calm and composed, he knew he wouldn’t beat anakin in a straight up fight which also he knew that anakin was far to eager and cocky, which is why he jumped to the high ground. He knew anakin would rush in and fall for his trap

T Smith maul appeared in like only 7 episodes 2 of which he was a hologram in the clone wars which has 133 episodes and only had 4 episodes in rebels which has 75 episodes. I know he isn’t the main focus in either show but only 9 real episodes out of over 210 total is not a lot of time. Not complaining as they did great but one extra arc would have made him even better

No one gives maul no credit they only focused on the mistakes hes made. Hes dominated everyone including obi wan in pm and cw except sidious obviously. I think maul could take prime anakin and vader. Everyone rides anakin but forget he sucks at fighting people who are aggressive like him. His force abilities dont mean anything. He literally stalemated with obi wan in a force battle on revenge of the sith.

Anakin Skywalker lived as a slave his entire life, first to Watto, then to the Jedi Order and finally to Emperor Palpatine as Darth Vader. I think deep down Anakin, including the fragment of Anakin left in Darth Vader, has only ever wanted to be free. The tremendous anger and hate that makes Darth Vader so powerful is his bitterness and resentment that he can never be free.

Vader saying "Myself" only further proved to me that Anakin's entire character arc is one of the most complex, well-written and fleshed out arcs in all of fiction. Absolutely legendary character. That one line encompasses that depth so incredibly well.

@@subarashiiashi3894 I don't understand this, his prequel characterisation is true to this fact. He kills those on Tatooine to avenge the death of his mother, but really he blames himself. He hates the council for refusing him a position, but he blames himself for being unworthy. He hates Obi-Wan for being against him in the end, but really hates himself for turning those closest to him against him, including the death of Padme. Is this wildly inaccurate?

Also Clone Wars is a great part of the story, but sadly the story itself is too ambitious and should have been made into like 4 episodes and not 3. 1 prequel movie beats all 3 disney vomit anyways.

What an awesome comic, nice voice acting!

My dad brought me this comic book when he returned from one of his deployments in 2005. Started my true descent into the extended universe and full out obsession with Star Wars.

3:10 I like how Vader just lets the troopers talk. He seems pretty chill about it. He probably liked something about them, seeing as he ordered them two specifically to follow him. I'm surprised they were actually comfortable chatting while following Vader in the first place, they've probably gotten used to him.

I feel like there's still a little Anakin in him that always cared a little bit about his troopers. Anakin had a couple clones he considered friends, so maybe Vader feels that a tiny bit too.

Indeed. Vader had much more respect for the Stormtroopers than he did for the Imperial officers, as they (and he) were the ones more often fighting the battle on the ground rather than giving orders from a Star Destroyer. Moreover, when the two Stormtroopers plead with him to stop choking them and he says, "It's not my doing", one can't help but think, "That's better than what he did with two officers (cough cough Ozzel, Needa)."

Being Assigned to Vader, they were probably damn decent clones or troopers. And unlike the major goofy officers, these competent foot soldiers where probably pretty comfortable around Vader. Also since they're looking for The Death Star Plans, this is pre battle of endor meaning that most of the 501st are still alive (most of which died on the death star) so there are probably common imperials and clones who have been serving Vader over 15 years. I might sound crazy, but it almost seems Vader is infuriated/annoyed at the death of these troopers (some of them probably were clones)

Palpatine admits theres a way to bring back Padme and the dodges the question twice when Vader clearly asked how.....😔

Genuine chance he doesn't know, there is literally such thing as force engineering in the dark side (everything from impossibly large ships, weopons that can destroy worlds and time travel is canon)

I always thought the World Between Worlds in Rebels was the way to “save people from dying”. Palpatine couldn’t access it though. Needed a dark and light sided to open and close it as Ezra did. He tried to save Kanan. And Palpatine said “Show me the way, Ezra.”. Granted at that time it wasn’t about saving Padme. But yeah. Idk

One theory has it that Palpatine actually used Padme's life force to save Anakin (hence why she died after giving birth to Luke and Leia)

I actually doubt that Palpetine knows how to perform such force actions. He killed his Master who was able to do it in his sleep before he learned everything from his master, well and Darth Plageis probably never wanted palpatine to know that much either anyways since he wanted to become a immortal Sith emperor like Palpetine later too.

I have this issue. It's one of my favorites. As Vader vs. Maul, that might happen in the Bad Batch TV show. It was stated in Rebels that he could not defeat Vader alone. I had a feeling that they fought before...

Love you talked about this comic, one of my favorites! A Star Wars “what if” type of show would be beyond awesome, heck they could get half their ideas from this channel! I remember one comic that posed the question, what if Luke had turned? Or was it Leia? Who cares! Make it Disney!

I definitely agree with that. I don't think there's anybody else that hates her more than I do. She basically lied about treating the Skywalkers and the rest of the original characters right in his face, decanonizing all of the EU, making it seem like it never happened and completely destroying and disrespecting their legacy. She's a complete failure not even worthy of being President of Disney Star Wars. I'm so glad that she was taken out of presidential position because she was in no way fit for it. Worst thing of all is she treated Luke Skywalker so terrible and gave him the death that he could've avoided if he actually fought, but made him too ignorant to fight back and say see ya later kid and he never did. The whole sequel was basically her felt and the three character ruining directors that just ruined the sequels. I actually get a kick out of the new books and comics. Some of them are so ridiculous. Some are alright, but others are just beyond dumb. It's like they have no idea what Star Wars truly is in the making of books.

Anakin was always destined to become Darth Vader, in the suit, he had visions of it His path of the chosen one was always destined to be the exact Darth Vader we all know There was no "what could have been" because he became exactly what he was meant to, his purpose was fulfilled exactly how the force wanted You could argue that Anakin without being burnt and losing his limbs and loved one's, could never have had the hatred and anger to channel the the power of the dark side and become as powerful as he did Anakin/Vader's story made him who he was, and without it he couldn't have done what he done He was meant to lose to Obi-Wan, there was no other option, the force made this happen, not Anakin Vader is a beast

@@hollowclyde3433 Somehow, I find a theoretical with qui-gon would have led to a splintering of the Jedi Order, with count dooku and qui-gon becoming the masters of the new order. Equally plausible as that with Qui-gon returning with the chosen one, there may even be the possibility that the council could yet be saved. It'd be interesting, to be sure.

Anakin's fall to the dark side was always going to happen because it was the path the Force paved for him. His purpose was not only to destroy the Sith but the Jedi as well. The Jedi were corrupt and strayed away from serving the force as they were supposed to do. The Force wanted Anakin to cleanse the Jedi, so they can start over with a clean slate with Anakin's son Luke. Not to mention the only way to defeat Palpatine was to catch him off guard. And it worked, Palpatine was too arrogant, believing Vader cannot return to being Anakin and it was his downfall.

A quick example, people are not b&w, but some universal laws are. people are complex & can do bad things but be good people, they may just have a messed up life & need help. @@tacotruck5009 No, Vader is only about 50-60% machine. Both legs, arms, a couple internal organs and a breathing apparatus. If anything they are about even as far as machine parts go with the rebels version of Maul. However this was a version of Maul that was still 100% organic.

Yeah mauls not only cut inhalf but castrated in the process..So ridiculous that they brought him back cut in half nearly to the lungs.All organs etc gone.

how are they not equal? Anakin was on pair with Obi-Wan (ik he was stronger but he still lost tho), and Obi-Wan was on pair with Maul, now Maul have had much more time to practice AND Vader is not as strong as Anakin because of his poorly designed body.... I honestly think Maul would be the strongest

Anakin is stronger than vader in raw power only, remember that vader has had almost 20 years of training in the dark side up until this point. Also remember that the only reason anakin lost to obiwan is because obiwan knew how anakin fights down to the most minute detail. If obiwan and anakin encountered each other without knowing anything about one another anakin would have won any day of the week.

Vader would win. He is more in tune with the Dark Side because his hatred for the Jedi is more personal. He was one of them and felt betrayed.

@@gamerfury9846 I'd say Maul suffered more loss, but Vader was in .constant suffering. From killing Padme, to being reduced to a torso to burn nearly to death, to being outfitted with uncomfortable low quality cybernetics would keep some constant pain I would think.

Few hates are more powerful than self-hate! A perfectly terrifying concept there.

It's awesome how Theory uses his awesome voice acting skills to make the video more interesting

The voice acting is top notch!

Prime to prime Vader is thrashing Maul absolutely no difficulty. Not only is he a better duelist than the man who killed Maul in cannon (Old Ben), he is extremely knowledgeable on the fight between Obi Wan and Maul. He understands everything about how Obi Wan beat Maul and simulated dueling Maul several times himself.

I feel like Maul rushes into situations too quick. Vader at least has some patience and thinks before acting.

Why do you think Vader questioned his master about it? And, of course, Sidious gave him a dismissal non-answer. His apprentice is much more effective with the pain of Padme's loss driving his rage.

Yeah Maul spent 10 to fifteen years on malacore. Loosing much of his former strength, youth, and sanity. He was arguably weaker then his phantom menace counterpart. Hell we would most likely loose to Ashoka more often then not because of his stunt in his original power and skill. Which was in my opinion during the end of the clone wars.

@@comradekolbot2220 I actually approve of that, I think after maul came back during the clone wars he was weaker due to loosing sanity etc, but at the same time we never got to see Maul’s full strength except for when he took a venator out of hyperspace using the force...that was badass...

It actually wouldn't surprise me if this whole thing was secretly set up as a test to test Vader by the Emperor to test Vader and strengthen his connection to the dark side.

Didn't he know it? Seeing as he knows Palpatine wants Anakin for he's new apprentice, he could have easilly put a 2 and 2 together, right? He knew Palp's plans, he saw empire rise, and a new apprentice next to emperor. Just like Ahsoka knew who Vader was, Obi Wan probably too, Maul could just as well.
