@@phonechecked Daughters embarrass the family by being single mothers and don't pass down the last name
@DioniWise87
25 күн бұрын
@@ayycardinal6802How do you know they are single mothers? Also, which family name are you talking about? Do you know how family names are passed on in most American families? A single mother might pass on the family name (Green) because the kids might get her maiden name. Therefore, the family name would be passed on. If his daughters got married, then they would most likely accept their husband’s name and give their children the husband’s name (not Green).
Reading the title I was surprised Green's 28 hadn't already been retired. He was one of those rare players that was universally respected by ALL NFL fans.

Darrell is an absolute HUMBLE LEGEND!!! I met him in 91, when my Uncle Dan (R.I.P.) got us playoff tickets for that year, ON THE ROCKING BLEACHERS!!!! It was such an absolute blast. Four years ago I was walking on my way back from lunch in D.C. wearing a Redskins Coat that had the superbowls and some of the great players numbers on it, including his. I hear a voice call out "Man, thats a nice jacket!" I turn around and it's Darrell Green getting out of a limo!! I smiled from ear to ear and just said "Man....any chance we can get you back on the field?!? Or defense could sure use your help!" He just smiled and said..."Man...I'm still quick, but not THAT quick!!" He was out there to pick up his son from work, we chatted for like 10 minutes before he came down, I told him I had worked for 10 years at FedEx Field as an usher, he loved hearing my quick stories about the fans in the nosebleed sections...such a cool individual. So happy for him to get this honor!!

used to hoop with DG at the Vienna park..... multiple times...he was there a lot and not anyone who ever thought he was anything more than a player trying to ball.. many of them aren't.. but let me tell you.... he' 100% real and genuine when my friend sprained his knee Darrell.. stopped and helped Bob off the court and made sure he was ok before continuing ..he was always the adult in the room, he was the king in that park.. you could almost see the white light around him..i kid you not.. you felt a lift being near him..... great honor for a great man.
This is what new ownership can do appreciate the people that build the team and establishment!
Finally, ownership with dignity, class, and a coaching staff to match. For them to do this for Darrell speaks to their foundational beliefs. I met Mr. Green and Mr. Monk when I was twelve, and I still have his signature tucked away in a box. He is truly a humble man. HTTR!!

25 күн бұрын
I was going to leave that comment if it wasn't here already. ART MONK was professionalism personified. Always stayed in shape in the off season and showed up to training camp ready for the season to start. In his era, there was ONLY ONE receiver with more impressive statistics - Jerry Rice. When Monk was inducted into the Hall of Fame (the same day as D. Green), he received the longest standing ovation in the history of that institution by FELLOW PLAYERS. If they all recognize his greatness...it's time for the Washington Commanders to do the same.
@SwivelHippie

@MrVvulf 100 percent bro. Monk was subject to a run first offense in a run heavy league for the fist 10 years of his career too. And was the only WR in NFL history to win 3 superbowls with 3 different QBs.

I never watched him make one play (bit before my time) and I STILL teared up watching this. The family, the honor, the struggling to compose himself at the unveiling, MAGIC (I was bizarrely a die-hard Showtime Lakers fan despite not being alive while they were playing, no it doesn't make any sense). That was a very great video and I'm happy to see this organization embrace their past players. I was worried they were gonna go no we can't acknowledge the past b/c of the name change and it's like you still have to HONOR GREATNESS!!!

Congratulations Darryl Green I watched you since you entered NFL and you were one of my heroes of the game you came through on clutch plays that made me cry that made my heart just shake just like rfk did thx
Eighty-one (81) and seventy-two (72) should never be wore again. Dexter was the heart and soul of the defense. Teams had to account for his presence on the field. QB feared him!! there will never ever be another defensive player that embodied that dawg in burgundy and gold. He deserved to wear a gold jacket! you can't define the Washington defense of the 80's without mentioning the best defensive end, Dexter Manley. Arthur Monk was the best possession wide receiver of the 80's. When we needed a key first down catch, Monk never let us down. Sadly, the new rules didn't allow him to stay in Washington to finish his steller career. All the same, his was a force to reckon with against DB's. Always taking the hard crossing shots over the middle.. These men numbers deserve the same recognition as the great Darrell Green!!
Darrel Green is the most deserving player and person, we love you #28‼️💯💪🏼
