Having coached 10 Hall of Fame players in my career, I believe Zach deserves to be in that group. Zach was a coach's dream as a leader and a player. I never had any player that prepared himself as well as Zach. He belongs in the Hall." - Jimmy Johnson HOF Coach "Everything about Zach said Hall of Fame. His statistics, how he played, the winning defenses he led, the Pro Bowls and his knowledge of the game all jump out at you. He was not only certain to be in the right spot and get to the ball, but he would get everyone else lined up before the snap. He was the quarterback of that defense and he made his teammates better. - Dan Marino HOF QB "Zach was one of those pure football guys that I really admire. There aren't very many players who were as tough, productive and consistent." - Bill Belichick "I first met Zach as a friend. Then I met the warrior. Year after year, Zach showed to the world how to play the middle linebacker position. He wasn't the biggest or fastest, but his instincts, passion and knowledge of the game always impressed me. Sideline to sideline, there are not many linebackers that I have ever seen better than Zach." - Ray Lewis HOF MLB

@Kameron's Political Predictions Center You can't give it a number. Zach was everywhere on the field. He was not very big, nor was he very fast, but his reads were instant and his angles were flawless. He was making contact in the backfield before closer, faster players could get there. He was literally a missile on every play. This selection is way overdue.
@jg772006
Жыл бұрын
@@KamsPoliticalPredictions ... I don't know if I could put a number on it, but one thing I maintain to this day, Zach is one of the most CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED great LBs in NFL history. He never truly got the respect he deserved, and was always overshadowed by Ray Lewis and Brian Urlacher (for my money, just my opinion, Zach was better than Urlacher ... if not, at least just as good). For a guy that was drafted 154th overall in the 5th round of the 96 draft, and was basically just drafted to be nothing more than a special teams player ... to be a 7x Pro Bowler, 7x 1st or 2nd Team All-Pro, 2x LB of the Year, AFC Defensive ROTY, put up more than respectable numbers for a full decade at least, and be selected to the 2000s All Decade Team ... I think he did pretty well for himself. And if you look up what Zach Thomas did (and even his teammate Jason Taylor, who got in the HOF in 2017) during a time where for a number of years the Dolphins were at their ABSOLUTE WORST ... ZT and JT CARRIED this team. After Dan Marino retired in 1999 ... the Dolphins franchise basically did a full-transition from an offensive team to a defensive team, and ZT and JT were basically the flag-bearers of the Dolphins after Marino retired. There were other great players on those early 2000s Miami Defenses with ZT and JT ... like Sam Madison, Patrick Surtain, Brock Marion, Tim Bowens, Daryl Gardner, Trace Armstrong ... but no one remembers them because they didn't win anything, because the Miami offenses they were paired with were either "one dimensional" (Ricky Williams 02-03), or were so bad. And as those defenses began to break apart year by year (Tim Bowens retired ... Brock Marion released ... Sam Madison signed with the Giants ... Patrick Surtain traded to KC) ... ZT and JT stayed and remained. The two "constants" on the Dolphins defense (and the Miami Dolphins team in general) for a number of (bad & down) years were Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor. Watching those two play, how they played, how they always played hard, and never cheated themselves or the Phin fans, regardless of how good or overwhelmingly bad or disappointing the Phins were ... made me proud to be a Phins fan. I've always said: - Dan Marino made me "A FAN" of the Miami Dolphins. - Jason Taylor and especially Zach Thomas made me LOVE the Miami Dolphins. Thats why Phin fans were so passionate and emotional with ZT's selection here. Not only have we stated that he belongs in the hall, but so many of his teammates, contemporaries, and rivals stated it as well ... from Peyton Manning, Jimmy Johnson in his HOF speech, Ray Lewis, Brian Urlacher called the voters a bunch of dumbasses for not putting him in ... among so many others. My personal favorite was former NY Jet C Kevin Mawae shouting him out in his HOF speech back in 2019. I remember those Jets/Phins games very well, and Mawae and ZT would not only BLOODY each other ... they would try to outsmart each other since they both knew what the other would do before they even did it. Look up what Kevin said about Zach , and it tells you all you need to know about Zach. I can't wait to go to Canton to see Zach enshrined ... I was there for Marino in 2005, and Jason Taylor in 2017, and I will surely be there for Zach Thomas. He was an OUTSTANDING LB for us ... and if the Dolphins today had a player that was even 1/8th the player and leader Zach Thomas was, they would be MILES better.

Zach Thomas was an absolute monster when he played. A complete pro who never made excuses, never got arrested or caused any distractions for the team etc. Just went out and played the game at the highest level and gave it 100%. Its a crime that he had to wait this long to be enshrined but I'm glad he's finally in.

ZT, Barber, Ware, Joe Thomas, Revis island so much greatness I got to witness thanks for the great memories.
As a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan, I'm thrilled to see Joe Thomas get in. He stuck with us when he didn't have to, and honestly, most others wouldn't have. Thanks for everything, Joe. You deserve this!

It was awesome and spoke to not only his greatness but to the hardworking blue collar people of Ohio.

As a long time Miami Dolphins fan I am so happy to see Zach Thomas get into the Hall of Fame. Having hes coach, the man that drafted him in the first place telling him he was in was perfect.

It's real simple..... he won 55% of his games... 114-89 in the regular season 3-6 in the playoffs.... the only possible way that this guy's in the Hall of Fame is because everyone Lobby for him for the last fifteen years or he would have just been in!! there's too much of that going on now, and it's pretty much ruin the Hall of Fame!! if any of you who are not charger fans or Don Coryell fans can look at each other with straight faces and actually think that he's a Hall of Famer then God be with you!!! unless you're a personal friend of his there's no way you can look with a straight face and say that he is a Hall of Fame coach!!! it's the most ridiculous thing in the world, they put Tom Flores in because he's Latino.... Sal pal Antonio Lobby hard to get Dick Vermeil in the Hall of Fame and then Vermeil even mention that in his speech which is even more remarkable that a man sets up behind the podium and thank someone else for getting him in the Hall of Fame because he wouldn't shut his f****** mouth Deion Sanders is correct it's supposed to be the best of the best of the best and it has turned into an absolute clown show

Zach Thomas & Ronde Barber 💯 Man I miss late 90s early 00s football
Zach Thomas got what he's always deserved for a long time. That was a truly heartfelt moment between coach Jimmie and Zach, and we could all feel that. And then, y'all had D Ware to start us off like that with Jerry... You could tell how much it meant to him. I grew up watching him, and as a kid I always wanted to be a pass rusher like him. When he got his superbowl ring I was happy for him, and seeing him being enshrined into Canton, it really feels like everything has come full circle for him. Congratulations to all of the Class of '23 inductees!

The guy was like the NFL version of Rudy. Not nearly the biggest guy, not exactly the fastest guy but that man was built to play football. John Elway says that one of the two hardest hits he ever took was from Thomas, the other was Bruce Smith, a man half again Thomas' size.

Joe Thomas was my favorite player on the Browns and as a fan of this team I'm so excited to see him go in on the first round of voting because he was a tremendous athlete and beast at LT and remained a Brown his whole career. Man I'd love him to play one more season congrats Joe Thonas I have to get this for the hof game thus year for sure
I love this part of the process. Imagine working all your life towards a goal and succeeding at the highest levels. And knowing you played well, tried your best. And you are named a pro bowler, or win an mvp, maybe even a chip, maybe not. But then, after you hang up your cleats. After your body thanks you for finally taking a seat. After the roar of the crowd softens, and the stadium lights shine on someone else, you hear a knock on the door. And the knock is not just someone on some committee, but a Football Hall of Famer. Someone who had been just one step ahead of you. Who toiled relentlessly, just like you did to be great. That person extends their hand, not just to shake yours, not just to pat you on the back on a job well done, but to pull you next to him and say, ‘you belong here, with us’.
As a Browns fan, I loved seeing Joe Thomas...but damn, Demarcus and Zach's reaction got me. Congrats gents 👏
Congratulations Joe Klecko, we’ve been waiting for this for years. Long overdue.
Zach Thomas was one of the reasons I played linebacker growing up. Wasn’t even a dolphins fan but loved watching him play. Had to have the neck guard like him too.
In the World of Sports, There's Nothing More Satisfying To See Than A Grown Man Crying After Being Inducted Into The Football Hall Of Fame. When I saw Troy and Jimmy shedding tears, i cried, too. They deserved it. Congratulations Zack Thomas!
You can tell how long Zach was waiting for it. Coryell should have gotten it when he was alive though :c
Shout out to Zach (who was part of a defense who gave us fits). Well deserved. -pats fan
Zach Thomas. Imagine coming up the stairs to see Jimmy Johnson waiting for you, wearing his Canton jacket. That's gotta be beyond overwhelming. Congrats to all the players that made it in.
Inspiring to see how humbled these supreme athletes are to be recognized on this level. All of the blood, sweat, tears and the lifetime of suffering pain as a result seem worthwhile when you get props on this level. Legends
Zach Thomas, congrats. I almost started tearing up. I am actually getting chills. Dolphins fan here. Miss watching Thomas, Taylor, Madison, Surtain, Starks, Brock Marion and others all play. I enjoyed watching Zach tackle everybody. He was an intense tackling machine that had great instincts. He was truly the glue that kept the D together. When he was playing alongside Jr. Seau that was art. I truly miss watching Zach. IMO, he was the heart of the D. He should've been voted in a long time ago. His stats are comparable to Brian Urlacher and Ray Lewis. Zach Thomas I am happy for you, well deserved. Now go get your gold jacket.
Like many here seeing Zach Thomas get the “ knock” was TRULY wonderful. He was a grinder and had what they love to call a “high motor”, these type of players are the ones you despise when they play your favorite team and the rest of the season you always watch him when he’s on, and follow their stats.
