    You don't need to be able to play ridiculous solos or have ridiculous technicality to be a good guitarist. The fact he is able to create something no one else was able to do on his guitar makes him a great guitarist.

    Its pathetic how people come up with this personal interpretation of how things are, to somehow justify bad players like Malakian. The great players would not take him seriously and dismiss him as rudimentary. He cant play for nuts, imo.

    I've had my iceman 20somethting years now. Got her sometime in the late '90's...my memories of those times are..blurry. I was in my 20's to get to the point....love this guitar! Always has killer tone...also great for fingerstyle! Havent used a pick in years..its my main guitar

    @lllULTIMATEMASTERlll Their first album was heavy...ish. But hardly even considered metal by most people. And GNR was just another stadium glam metal band that died in the early 90s alongside Poison/Warrant/every other band exactly like them.

    @PianoWireAbortion Slash definitely played rock in the 80s and they were not glam metal at all. They had their own style that was far different from anyone who played in the 80s. The guy playing in this video is obviously playing metal.

    @lllULTIMATEMASTERlll Other than that circular scale work on Sweet Child O'Mine, I can't think of anything originative Slash actually contributed to the genre. He was just a popular guitarist in a big band that gets a lot of publicity. It's like saying Kirk Hammett's more creative, despite the fact that he writes basically nothing but his repetitive solos (and the odd riff since they started doing their 'therapeutic writing' shit as per St. Anger)

    @lllULTIMATEMASTERlll Slash just plays power chords and pentatonics/blues licks. It can be turned any way you like, but if you take creativity into account, Slash is pretty weak. Most of the 'good' GNR guitar parts were written by Izzy anyway.
