+Ian Alvord I ended up doing the same in first playthrough. Not because I'm great at the game, but because I did not know you could get an item to make the goddamn beast visible (htf was I supposed to know!). I took me like 30 tries, tho :P

+Anonssr this is a bit late but there was literally a whole different part of the area you could have gone first by just going the other direction and it's a linear path to the item you "need" for the fight... it couldn't be much more obvious

other comments aren't wrong but it's because of rapier's built-in counter damage. any attack you make against an enemy in the middle of an animation gains bonus damage. leo ring, flynn's ring, brightbug and dex also add to this.

Great run. Just wondering something: would it be faster to unequip all weapons (especially the twinblade) while running a long way to the boss? That twinblade weighs you down a lot especially with a Flynn ring build.

xMrGreeneJeansx He is still under 70% equip load so the speed of his running is the fastest possible. It does however effect stamina regen speed so it might be saving a second or two.

I thought him poking the iron kings hand while he was eas breathing fire was clever as hell

+Braden Kowalski I think that it ends up being worth it because it lasts all the way to the Rotten, even up until the DLC1 loading screen.

Extremely impressive. How long did it take you to practice all the bosses? Also, I feel like the bosses did low damage to you, considering you're unarmored, is this a patch thing, or is it just me?

In most of the later bosses he used a Bright Bug, which decreases damage received and increases damage dealt. Other than those bosses, it could be a patch that makes them stronger/you weaker. (sorry for the late reply, hope it still helps)

+Dab Rab you need the dragon talon (key) to open the door to shulva. it's in a room halfway down the well in majula behind a door which you can open with the forgotten key you get for beating the 2 giants in the black gulch. easy right? ;) in the original edition he's playing you just have the dragon talon key in your inventory if you bought the shulva dlc, so he doesn't need to get it.

+Dab Rab its a long process, 1st you have to kill the 2 club wielding giants in the black gulch, you have to jump off the edge from the 2nd bonfire and then you find a cave, kill the 2 giants and you get the forgotten key, now you have to go to majula and either make some specific jumps to get the the platform with the ladder that goes up or you can buy the 3rd ladder from gilligan and get there easily, you get gilligan to move after you beat the earthern peak or talk to him in his respectful position. Once you either go down the big ladder or drop onto the platform you climb the ladder, open the door and you find the key in the back left corner, not in the 3 chests, you find the iron key at the fire pit in forest of fallen giants you can jump down there with the fall damage ring or open the door just before the last giant boss fight with the key at the start of iron keep in the fire and you find the key to the 3rd dlc in drangleic castle

It's the normal version of Ds2 + DLC (Hence why Aldia appears) The actual scholar version changes item locations, adds more enemies and whatnot. That's why runners don't play that one.

I'm sure he just makes it look easy, but as someone who's never played this game it looks like you just run past everyone, quickly select items from your inventory, and staby staby the bosses.

They used a glitch though a glitch very similar to parry walking in the OG DS2

The "Pursuer" in this speedrun must've fell asleep, because in the PS4/Xbox One Scholar of the First Sin edition, he would never let you get cheese him like that unless you parry him lol.

DS2 isn't the easiest think about it if you've played the first then the game is easy they only realized " hey EVERYONES good at the game now let's ramp up the difficulty " in DS3

TheFlamingGamerZx Dark Souls 2 is easily the hardest. In ds1 and des you could sircle around every enemy to get easy backstabs and there were much less enemies attacking at once. Also bosses like fume knight and darklurker are much harder than anything in the other games. Not to mention how fucked up areas like shrine of armana and many others are.

Anybody else bothered by the sound of the analogue sticks bashing into the side of the controller every time he moves his camera? A really nitpicky thing for an awesome speed run, I know, but I can't be the only one.
