I did further research and it appears that Bradberry had some bad tackling years with the Giants -- wanted to fact-check myself to make sure you guys are getting the best information!

Slay will definitely start no doubt unless he gets injured he has been cb1 entirety of OTAs for them and slay has been a great tackler even last year I saw some great wrap ups I do actually think ringo and rodgers keep Mitchell off the field unless it’s slot work

Nick, I think the #Eagles are forced moreso to move on from Bradberry (even though the better PURE Zone CB) b/c of Fangio’s greater shift to Cover 3 & variations thereof vs Slay’s ability to play Zone better (given structures & rules w/in) a Cover 3 scheme (vs Vic’s prior Quarters coverage reliance), which gave help more to compensate for Bradberry’s lessening abilities - eg, in Cover 3 BUZZ w/ the LB/$ swap, Slay can still play while Bradberry’s “help” in such a situation more so disappears/ is limited (eg, w/ lesser safety rotation given swap). So do you see this increased emphasis toward Cover 3 variations will allow Slay to play for a few more yrs b/c his skillset is less likely to be as vulnerable as Bradberry’s was to systemic changes scheme preference - esp if his knee is “back” as he claims.

Slay can still play but it likely will be somewhere else. Coverage rules that mitigate the frequency of chasing players across the field or playing press man will be beneficial to his shelf life.

Well number one, Slay has a poison pill in his contract in the form of a 2026 option bonus that the Eagles will not pay (especially with their recent moves at corner). So he will be gone. But Slay (and most corners as they age) will be better in zone dominant schemes. But the thing is, Fangio's coverages, even though they're zone coverages, often play out like man coverage for the outside corners. And Desai's coverages were very similar to Fangio's. After all, he started his career with the Bears where he spent two years with John Fox and then 4 years on Fangio's staff. You can see differences, but you can see a lot of similarities in their philosophy. Slay has been able to age better than others cause he was a better athlete coming in. Other factors matter too, like injury/surgery history, his training regime, diet, sleep, etc, but I imagine he's on point with that since he's been able to play very well even after 30.

Do us all a favor a skip bradberry's season review. Or just make a 10 second video of you both saying "not very good" for the lols.

@TheEaglesGuru playing devils advocate a bit. He had like 2 or 3 dropped picks during the season. Do you think the organization views him differently today had he come down with those?

@@LDrakewood He gave up 10 TDs and couldn't tackle. I don't think it would've mattered

It definitely helps if he catches those, but like Eric said, he was pretty rough in most aspects of his game. And corners don't tend to get better in their 30s, especially players that weren't top of the line athletes at their position to begin with.
