During the last weeks a serie was broadcasted about the neonatology-departement of the Erasmus MC : Handen aan de couveuse. Perhaps watching this can be a little help learning Dutch. You can find it on the internet.

Don't worry about your daughter. She is bright, she is active, she will get there soon enough. Just learn her to make mistakes comfortably (not only in the language, but in everything).

It's a relief to see you and your family having some fun! Dealing with legal stuff and bureaucracy can feel like moving mountains. And not being able to settle down more permanently is not helpful either. So I'm happy to see you noticing some light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck finding a real home. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you guys!

Once you have decided to live in another country, especially in a country on the other side of the world, you will go through all the steps of grieving: you say goodbye to family, friends and everything you are emotionally attached to in your original country. And don't underestimate it; this farewell can be compared with saying goodbye to someone who has fallen away from you. In addition, the home country and the conditions in the home country as you left it will not be the home country and the conditions in which you will find it (when visiting) after years abroad for 2 reasons: 1. Your home country and the people who live there (family and friends) is/are subject to constant changes and evolution's, however small as they can be which you hardly notice when you live there, but all together most likely will provide you a completely different experience of your home country and that this is the reason that after years of absence your home country does no longer feel like your home country and your friends and even family the way you left it/them. 2. Like it or not, you'll still get used (socially, politically, climate-technically, cultural norms and value's and more) to the host country where you stay for a number of years and this habituation changes your perspective with regard to many things to your homeland. Being critical about your former home country with regard to matters that you previously never would have discussed with friends an family in your former home country will therefore occur more often than you would like. And you simply cannot have both; you will have to make choices. Structural choices that give you a future in your country of choice. By choosing a certain country, you distance yourself and say goodbye to the other country, including the people who live there, and you welcome the new country, the new language, and the new culture and the new norms and values and the people who live there just like yourself. Even if you would fully accept the host country or new country and you would fully integrate into this new country with the new language and the new culture and the new norms and values, you still will go through the complete grieving process of parting with regard to the old country. It is absolutely not possible to keep everything you had in the old country without hindering your integration in the new country. This really is a Black or White situation, you've gotta choose...so it's all about choices unfortunately. You simply can't have both. The grieving process is inevitable, but don't go into the grieving process without giving yourself a real chance of success in the host country or perhaps during permanent immigration; the new country. These are unfortunately the facts as they are. I wish you wisdom at your choices.

Great to hear there are more opportunities for housing. That would definitely calm things down if you have got permanent housing. After that moment you can really start building your life here. I expect everything to turn out good in the end. Thanks for keeping us up to date!

Hey, great to see your family had a fun day away from all stress. Your updates are really nice to hear so finally things are looking to start more positive. I know there are students who teach kids who are struggling with language or math..my kid used to go to people who really helped him out a lot with math and gave us less stress hahaha. Keep up the great content with those nice vids and keep up the good work and vibes. You're almost there.

Three times I've tried to give a comment for you guys to check out *Kinderen voor Kinderen* but it keeps getting lost. I'll try once more. They're kids songs, and for many lyrics are available, and for a lot also in English. they're awesome and it's a complete adventure to listen to all of them. There are a LOT. The very first album (1980) is a good point to start, because the Dutch is VERY clearly spoken and sung. There are songs about everything, very relatable to kids, and it will give you a great insight into dutch kids thinking. It will also very much help with language! And, we adults will never admit it, but we secretly still like them too ;-)) One of my favorites: Op een onbewoond eiland. (on an uninhabited island) Have fun!

Good to see you a bit more cheerful. For a nursing rile, you will have to be able to speak and understand Dutch at a level that you can react to your patients. Though English proficiency is very high in the Netherlands, there are many elder people and migrants that do not speak English beyond hello. Other than that, there should be great demand for a trained and experienced nurse, though the basic education required may be different. There is another youtube channel called Expat Ellen who had struggles with that as well, so you might contact her.
