It’s such a good argument. You can’t definitively give Jon Jones adequate praise for a sub 5 minute fight. He didn’t show all his abilities and he didn’t show all of his attributes because he finished Cyril so quickly so it leaves lots of question marks about his status as an elite heavyweight. Granted that’s kind of an oxymoron given the abilities of most heavyweights but it still leaves questions about how well he’s adjusted into the age, the weight and his general wear and tear. I think the amount of time he had off with all the suspensions should alleviate those questions a little but i think there’s still plenty of questions that won’t be answered fighting s guy as old and worn as stipe.

Funny. Anybody else smokes their opponent in 2 minutes, they’re praised. Jon smokes the number 2 heavyweight in the world in 2 minutes, but it’s “that didn’t prove anything” 😂 hate makes you do some crazy 💩

@@samael6903 i didn’t say it didn’t prove anything, I said it doesn’t prove his status as the most elite heavyweight. Masvidal knocked askren out in 5 seconds but that doesn’t show anything about his takedown defense at 170, kamaru took him down east.

@@jonreyes6872 Only one other man beat Gane. Cyril beat 5 guys in the top 10. That’s 1 more than Tom, the guy y’all are hyping. Not to mention Gane beat a former champion as well. So how is Tom elite but Gane isn’t?🤔 just say you hate Jon. It’s so much easier.

@@samael6903 I didn't say Ciryl isn't elite, I said that 2 minutes of octagon time after a long layoff isn't enough to say for certain he's the best heavyweight. I think that's fair to say after he used a known strongpoint of his game to submit a guy who has a glaring weakness against that strongpoint. And fighting Stipe doesn't really do much for him since it's a tee-up against a 41 year old guy coming off a knockout, a 3 year layoff and a knee injury.

@@joehogan8013 I have and Tom is phenomenal, of course, but the division as a whole has not been developed and lacks the quality other divisions enjoy. Pay being crap is the biggest problem, and Dana is just as likely to bury an upcoming name than he is to promote them.

@@murphyman104I think it’s a problem with heavyweight specifically because it’s just a smaller talent pool bantamweight welterweight heck even middleweight are constantly getting fresh blood because there’s just more people in the world who are that size naturally. How many natural 6,4 elite athletes trained in combat sports from a young age are just walking around out there? Not many it would turn out we only get like maybe 1 big new heavyweight prospect every year and it’s a coin flip if they’re good or not.

@@extracrispy9229 You've got it, there are other far-better paying sports a big, athletic guy can pursue if he dreams of financial success. The UFC and MMA is in competition with those other sports and, if they can't offer the right incentives, we end up with a much smaller talent pool at HW. It's a shame because every casual understands that "Heavyweight Champion of the World" holds special prestige or, at least, it should be promoted as such. HW feels more like a side-show these days than a marquee division.

@@murphyman104 true but thankfully we’ve been able to find our way to a actual deserving scary champion pretty much every time even if the rest of the decision is a little lacking. Stipe dc Francis jones now aspinal these are all people who were monstrous in the cage that actually carried the promise of baddest man on the planet.
What is the point of Tom’s interim championship? Someone please tell me. Jon needs to fight him next. Or if anything. Stipe should fight Tom. How does a guy who hasn’t fought in 4 years just leapfrog the Interim champ? Not to say Stipe doesn’t deserve a shot, but that’s only if there wasn’t an Interim champ, which there is. This league is becoming a circus act with all these legacy fights they’re forcing onto up. Unless both Jon and Stipe are retiring immediately after this bout, then Jon needs to fight Tom next. 100%
