I would love to see a Ridge Rock ultimate upgrade video that shows all of the updgrades and mods you should do to the truck to make it the most capable crawler it can be! I get tired of having to search hundreds of videos to know what to change / upgrade / mod. Thanks!

Love the content, I love the way it looks! I'm not much of a content creator for RCs but I have 8 ridgerocks and my best one has only $160 into it including the car value itself. It beats my others that have $400+ into it. And it competes with my bully v2 no problem. It was very frustrating to discover this because I have over $1000 into my bully. But, I learned, despite normal crawling protocol.. with the ridgerock, some things are better not to upgrade, and instead modifying what is already there is more favorable. Being lightweight, front heavy, I would highly suggest 2.2 hyrax in the back and 1.9 Ibex in the front gives it "natural overdrive", a bit more climbing angle, and with the weight on the smaller tires, it really gets that grip to pull up without tipping. However, my budget one runs 2.2 hyrax on both atm to keep it at $160. On top of that, with smaller front tires, you need to heat and flex the clearence rods into a half moon shape in order to gain climbover clearence at the peak of the rocks comfortably, flexing this rod properly also lowers your overall center of gravity just a smidge. The back clearence rod doesn't need to be as exaggerated to a full half moon since the tires are larger in the rear, and rear clearence is rarely an issue. As for weight, wheel weights only in the front, get cheap ones. Since the front tires are a bit smaller, adding wheel weights helps "Push the car to the ground in the front", this allows you a 81 degree virticle tip angle. Upgrading the front motor is also suggested but not required by any means, the motor "works" so long as you can manage the trigger properly but if your used to comp crawling then it will surely irritate you at first. Staying away from metal has proven to be extremely valuable as it keeps the weight down, and lightweight makes this thing float! In fact, the ridgerock is one of the best budget crawlers ever, and the main difference between the ridgerock and every other budget crawler is how light it is!! Keep it light! As for the Servo. I would suggest upgrading the front servo but it's absolutely not needed. With this rodgerock, 25kg Servo works amazing and performs significantly better for cheap. However, it's not necessary and you rarely reach a point you need a 25kg (unless you're playing a no reverse competition). With 6kg, you'll need to backup from time to time but... you'll almost never break anything with a 6kg servo, even if your wheel gets pinned because it's so weak. With a 25kg well.. it'll snap the plastic eventually, granted, the ridgerock plastic is supprisingly strong and flexible. I like to crawl slow, I have no issues "gassing to turn" here and there with 6kg but servo, it's all preference. If you add metal... you'll have to get better! I love seeing all these different ridgerocks in the world. I wish I lived in a place where people crawled! Unfortunately, nobody here does, just me. Thanks for sharing!

It's your fault that I now have several thousand dollars wrapped up in crawlers to include an SCX6, Gen8, TRX6 and Capra........and it all started with the Ridgerock;-) I seriously enjoyed your Ridgerock videos and followed all of your upgrade ideas as well as adding solid steering links and a dig unit from RC4WD. I too have some large tires on my Ridgerock but I find the torque lag between front and rear axles to be a real pain in the neck when trying to climb rocks. For trail running and rock hopping, they are fine. Keep up the great work!

I moved the battery down, replaced servos, took the top heavy (and slightly off scale) body off, and replaced it with a baja bug body low on the frame. Cut off the side rails to drop the body further, and added a steel bar under the front hood that doubles as support and front weight. This thing isn't going to get any further upgrades its just so cute and capable now. I even had to throw a light kit on it lol. Danchee Love is a real thing.

Yes I have dynamite 37T 380’s, super cheap on eBay, with dual brushed 320a esc setup, this build was definitely budget friendly, the most expensive thing I bought for it was a 2.2 moa rcp progress chassis, im still putting it back together, waiting on a few more things. The whole build for the modded one is about $350 so far including the price of the rig I won off eBay for $85 with no issues, it was barely used. The other I got was a brand new slider with axles and motors and I just pretty put the stuff I swapped from the modded to that and swapped the chassis. Runs very well

If you don’t have the original bind plug you can Google how to make a bind plug jumper or just ask Redcat to include one with the new transmitter. If you’re going factory I would suggest simply calling Redcat directly and talking to customer service to place the order. They have great customer support and if you explain the situation I’m confident they can provide links to a “how-to” on the bind process. Best of luck!
