A grand with upgrades agaimst 100 out of the box. The ravine is a.clear winner. Put the upgrades on the ravine and rerun

I was very much hoping that you might whip the wheels off the Capra and chuck them on the Ravine so we could see how the Ravine managed with posh tyres.

I’m impressed with that cheaper rock crawler! I’d feel a lot safer using that and feel confident that my wife wouldn’t be behind me with a glazed over look on her face and an ice pick in her hand!😜

I put a set of white spot HPI competition rock crawler tyres onto a Ravine, and it is nearly unstoppable. Part number is HPI 67772 if this helps anyone out. They are about £40 for a set, but makes this little truck keep up with the best, in my opinion. Not bad for £140 all in.

I like your honest video. It shows one thing . Cheap does not always mean crap. There are reasons why the Axial Capra is more expensive.

I own the Redcat Danchee Ridgerock which is very similar and I just recently sold my Axial Bomber. You do have the weight advantage with the Capra VS the FTX Ravine, it would be interesting to see how the FTX would hold up in the challenging area if it were weighted down. Quite honestly, I have more fun with the Redcat Danchee than I did with my Axial Bomber knowing that it's a 1/4 of the cost of my Axial Bomber.

i have a Danchee Ridgerock that i put 2.2 mudslingers with no foam . sold my capra and got a ridgerocks for backup parts . i up graded to injora threaded shocks and holmes trail motors . massive difference so glad i got rid of that capra money pit . crazy part is i had enouh money left to build a 1/5 scale rollor out of exceed 1/5 side plates and link arms , injora cnc axles transfer case , proline velocity 40 series rims with h-pin tires , castle sidewinder 3 and holmes trail 37t motor !

Out the box with steering at full lock the tyres foul on the lower suspension arms, this is easily cured by adding 15mm extension wheel hexes (about £12) Moving the wiring from lower arms to the triangulated pivot bar tidies the wiring out the way so it does not snag. I made my own upgraded lower link arms using stainless steel drinking straws (£5) cut to length, flattened the ends in bench vice and drilled holes for fixing with the original screws. This gives it better clearance than the original straight arms. Changing the rear servo saver for the fixed servo horn provided in the box improves the rear steering performance and reduces the centering slop when straightening up after tight turns. I got the Ravine brand new for £95 so with my upgrades it is a very capable rig for £112 ! - This easily out performs rigs that are 4 or 5 times the cost. I will upgrade the servos and fit better tyres at some point to further improve performance but I am having great fun with it on very rough terrain in S.W.Scotland. With sensible driving and careful line choice it is quite amazing the obstacles the Ravine can crawl over with just a few very cheap upgrades and some simple adjustments. Worth every penny.

The Capra crawls super scale! That's the greatest advantage, you feel the rush.. the Ravine is sweet, but bounces around like a toy..

Worth mentioning to those of us in the USA that this is available from Redcat as the Danchee Ridgerock for $120

I could swear that ravine is a Redcat danchee. I mean everything looks the same as I can see. But that was an pretty fun contest to watch, the capoeira did that hill climb so smooth. Great video, everyone have a great day and a great crawl

Awesome video (as always) I really like both crawlers but couldn't justify the cost of the Capra especially as the FTX is not that much behind it, with better tires and servos it would be even more capable, I would like to see you add a Redcat Racing Everest - 10, I think that as its fairly cheap and not a MOA it would be an interesting combination of vehicles. Keep up the good work I appreciate the time and effort you put into all your videos, you have single highhandedly got me back into the rc world with a vengeance lol

Interesting test. I think that when comparing the two, you might only consider performance upgrades that you have made to the Capra, rather than including the appearance modifications when considering the price difference. Thanks for sharing!

I have a similar capra as well with about $1100 in it and it is an absolute dream on the rocks, but this ravine is actually quite impressive.

Reminds me of our Danchee Ridge Rocks. The tires look the same too. Those tires are actually super grippy on most surfaces. We lowered ours a bit and already improved it’s performance with very little cost. 4 springs from ballpoint pens. Boom!

Thanks for sharing! I'm really impressed by the capability of the Ravine, it is a solid contender for it's price! This means that we don't have to spend alot of money to have some real fun! I understand that the Capra tops it but it also has more features to it that the Ravine does not have like it's weight, tires, brushless motor, locked rear wheels (digging function). I'm looking for a cheap crawler and the Ravine is certainly one I look forward to getting. What else would you suggest? (I don't mind the scale)
