Danai Gurira Addresses UN Security Council on Sexual Violence in Conflict | United Nations
Zimbabwean American actress Danai Gurira said, “The point is that reversing the upward trajectory of military spending would be a way of reducing the number of victims in need of support in the first place. The point is, working on arms control and ammunition management is also working to prevent conflict-related sexual violence.”
The UN Women Goodwill Ambassador told Council Members, “The issue of impunity, the knowledge that one can rape a mother, a daughter, a son, a child and get away with it, feeds the pathology that keeps this issue dire and growing.”
“We seem to not have found a way to create a deterrent that truly alters its perpetuation, and we know such deterrence exists. But the complicity around sexual violence being a spoil or inevitable consequence of war seems to deter various structures from truly holding parties accountable,” she added.
Gurira said, “I'd like to speak to the governments here today who allow this to occur within their borders with impunity. If you refuse to protect your most vulnerable, yet allow their bodies to be a spoil of your political conflicts, you should be held accountable and should not be in a position of leadership.”

Here in Brazil, rates of violence against women are very high. People always highlight that the causes of this violence are gender inequality, poverty, racism and xenophobia. But the incentive to arm the population in recent years, the delay in the judicial process and impunity are also causes that must be combated. The discussion and dissemination of information and the creation of campaigns to combat violence against women should be continuous and included in the school curriculum.

United Nations, these Henrico Police are trying to use this situation concerning my grandson and Henrico School to undo the illegal issue they commented concerning ordering a divorce between my husband and me. There is no divorce under Moorish Law. Henrico Court judges has done so many illegal acts against my son Hassan Rasheed El aka Hasayn Bey'El and me. Allah kept me informed as to the illegal issues these courts have done. The courts know about the Moorish Government and chose to ignore who I am. These police are trying to help cover up what these courts have done and do more illegal things. Allah said I cannot help these Europeans due to what they have done. These people feel they can just play around with people's lives under another Nation. These police also feel they will do whatever these judges say no matter treaties or law concerning nations. They want to keep the status quo change it is up to African to change.
