yeah one costs about nothing to start other than marketing and probably lawyers to shore up the legality of it The other costs hundreds of millions to really do right cause youd have to buy guys out of contracts Everyone knows boxing is more popular than slapping, but i guarantee dana has already made tons off this slap shit and boxing would likely be a dead end black hole of expenses, not profits, at least until/if they really got EVERYTHING right, got EVERY major boxer signed under their organization for several fights so you can really build a roster and have contender fights mean something. its hard for fans to invest in non title fights if the boxers are only signed for 1-2 fights then leave and come back. Point being you can see how expensive and difficult this all would be

I think when he's done with the UFC he'll finally realize his dream of Zuffa Boxing. He's always said that was his initial dream. He's never said no when asked about starting his own boxing promotion. I think the conflict of interest + time committal to the UFC right now is just too much, but I guarantee you if he doesn't start Zuffa Boxing cards a year or two before he leaves the UFC, he'll do it after he leaves the UFC. A dude like this has to stay busy, and while I'm sure he'll be vacationing more, it gives him purpose to hop on planes and do deals all over the world. yeah, and if UFC did it the way Showtime does, they would also be shutting down just like Bellator is who does the same thing. Guess who is going to be making more money now? The fighters that still have a job. You seem to not mention that fact, like at all. Maybe the reason the UFC keeps most of the money, is because they need that money to keep the organization going so fighters can keep doing what they want to do in a stable organization, while still making more money then doctors do in a year, except for the new guys, but if they fight 3 times a year they still make 60+k.

@@Cozmo1994the fighters that go over to PFL when there contracts maybe? For showtime boxing the well known boxers made more in 1 fight then all of but 2 ufc fighters in there whole career. The ufc definitely doesnt need 83+ percent of the revenue to put on good production. They have created a company name that is more valuable then any individual fighter. Doctors are a bad comparison to fighters that have 10 year careers and end up crippled and retarded when there done. They choose the profession of course, but the fighters are the ones with more to loose and deserve a higher percentage. A more fair comparison would be other athletes. Boxing has existed with fighters getting the majority of its revenue for 100+ years and isnt going away anytime soon. Bellators product sucks but thats more the fault of coker/ whoever actually runs it. Competition is good and will push up the quality of all the products by necessity. Nothing wrong with that.

@@Cozmo1994"while still making more money than doctors do in a year" - completely false. In 2022, the average ufc fighter made like 150k, down from the average of 160k in 2021. On the other hand, the average doctor's salary in USA is nearly 300k per year. "but if they fight 3 times a year they still make 60+k" - also dishonest. It assumes a victory in all 3 fights plus it doesn't account for the amount of money spent on training camps (8 to 12k), medicals, travel expenses, international taxes, etc. So they don't actually "make" that amount of money.

By having them in stadiums you could lower the ticket prices and still gain massive profits. People will go just for the buzz of going and saying they witnessed it live, albeit on a screen. I agree with Dana its more intimate and a better environment in an arena. However, from a business perspective, I'm unsure why he hasn't made the leap to stadiums.

Interesting that MMA is a good whatch even with one camera. Its still a quality product and improving production makes it even more enjoyable. Slap on the other hand they try to make it watchable and coat in all that 'more cameras than NFL' when the sport itself it's just. For him I hope it will make it. Makes me want them to do it with some other sport though
