Nothing to do with being his buddy. McGregor built his name into a brand that was valuable to the UFC. Is McGregor a punk? Yes, but it is mostly an act to sell fights. His actions in New York were totally unacceptable and if he wasn't such a money maker for the UFC he would have been banned from ever fighting in the Octogon again. Khabib is on a completely different level than McGregor as a fighter but he is not very personable. His lack of charisma does not sell fights. His devout faith is a huge turn off, it is dangerous, and it is incompatible with the western world. When someone breaks the law in a free society (Khabib) in the name of an imaginary deity, it clearly demonstrates this incompatibility.

Dana doesn't even attempt to present a neutral personality to the ufc. I am truly shocked that it's not spot lighted more from the fighters themselves... He was all smiles and giggles with Conors ridiculous and derogatory actions at the weigh in, but not so now... As for Conor, he doesn't realize the effect of his very personal, and classes behavior. You can never bully, or demoralize your equal but, you can highly motivate their fury. We are just seeing the early stages of it. The ufc needs to rediscover what sportsmanship is, and mandate it.
