Normally I never comment. I’m a Ford guy, mustangs and a bronco in the garage. I’ve also been following your videos, which is by far the best of them out there. Some of the crazy stuff you see. It’s easy to spot that you know how to do it right. Anyway I’m busy doing my Dana 20. One tip for everyone that has worked good for me is heating the bearings in the oven. They’ll fall right into place, super easy. So I’ve heated mine and there’s been no need to hammer/press on, also don’t have to find the right socket/pipe to press on. Keep up the great work. I could use a neighbor like you.

Thank you very much for the nice comment. We try to explain and show the best we can. I like your idea and have used that method on other applications before. I will remember that next time I build the Dana 20 and show the heat method. We should have some new videos out later this week. I needed to take a couple weeks off from the videos to regroup. Thanks again.

When installing the intermediate gear I hold the thrust washers in with heavy grease start the new shaft in just enough to keep it from moving on the other side I take the old shaft and grind it down just enough so it passes thru and flush to hold the other thrust washer in place and then I start the gear down and align it with the holes push the new shaft thru and that knocks the ground down one out the back as the new one comes thru works great for me every time👍

Hey Jason... just a handy tip that may help next time you have to deal with needle bearings. Grab a tub of "Assemblee Goo" spelled just like that - available at O'Reilly and other stores. get the firm tack (Green). It'll stick them bearings better than regular axle/bearing grease and it holds up well to heat - I can't use regular grease here in Arizona as it just melts and the bearings fall out and test my patience... lol. It also dissolves in oil really easily so you don't get gummy stuff after the trans or xcase are run a while.

Hey Jason. Great job and really love the videos. I noticed you didn’t use any thread sealer on the bolts. I believe some of the service cover and maybe other bolts go all the way through the case and will sit in gear oil. Is there any concern about oil seeping thorough the bolt threads?

Henry, I used multi purpose bearing grease during assembly. It was not too heavy so it won't keep everything from being lubricated properly once it is filled with oil. I have heard people use petroleum jelly to assemble them too. Honestly I cannot tell you will all certainty what is the best to use. I use what has worked for me in the past. Thanks for watching.

I am rebuilding a dana 20 now and I am trying to decide if I should leave out the interlock rods (what you referred to as shift rods) between the shift rails. Leaving them out I guess provides front wheel drive and rear only low with a twin stick, but also allows the potential for front and rear drives to end up in different ranges. Did you consider this and if so what made you decide to reinstall the interlock rods? Thanks
