Lyrics:
I saw the light fade from the sky
On the wind I heard a sigh
As the snowflakes cover my fallen brothers
I will say this last goodbye
Night is now falling
So ends this day
The road is now calling and I must away
Over hill and under tree
Through lands where never light has shone
By silver streams that run down to the Sea
Under cloud, beneath the stars
Over snow and winter's morn
I turn at last to paths that lead home
And though where the road then takes me
I cannot tell
We came all this way
But now comes the day
To bid you farewell
Many places I have been
Many sorrows I have seen
But I don't regret
Nor will I forget
All who took that road with me
Night is now falling
So ends this day
The road is now calling
And I must away
Over hill and under tree
Through lands where never light has shone
By silver streams that run down to the Sea
To these memories I will hold
With your blessing I will go
To turn at last to paths that lead home
And though where the road then takes me
I cannot tell
We came all this way
But now comes the day
To bid you farewell
I bid you all a very fond farewell

He recorded this song about 3 months after his father passed away. That might have been the reason for his emotional performance, but I don't know that for sure. I would love for you to react to his A Tale That Wasn't Right by Helloween, if you haven't already. He says in the outro that he studied their lead singer's voice to learn to sing falsetto and he has definitely mastered it, as you will see. And also, to see him in a truly emotional tribute to his father, please watch his cover of the Elvis song American Trilogy. I do know that he performed it just 5 days after his father passed away. It was one of his Dad's favorite songs by his favorite artist. Dan uses all of his courage to make it through it and it is a beautiful and moving experience. Thanks so much. Glad you are back at it. I look forward to more.

Billy Boyd sang this so beautifully. But I agree, Dan brings his own gorgeous, restrained vocals and a lovely delicate touch to this cover. And he builds just right, without overdoing it. I've always said that Dan has very good musical taste, and knows just what to bring to each song. I love this so much. Thanks for your sensitive and appreciate comments. Condolences to you, by the way. It takes a while to get through these things, so be easy on yourself. Next? Perhaps you could consider trying one of the Spyglass Inn songs: The Bard's Song, Loch Lomond, or Lord of the Rings. This was Dan's acoustic project with his close friend and Fearless bandmate, guitarist Gabriel Belozi. Alas, the project seems to have faded away, but I keep hoping they will resurrect it. Thanks!

Hmmm. There are many similarities between classical and metal music…. and many metal singers & many metal musicians have classical training. You have to be able to sing softer & more timidly like this before you can graduate to singing metal…. conquering faster & higher singing.

I have watched or listened to this video hundreds of times, and I never noticed the tear. I had to pull up Dan's original to check, and you are right, he is definitely crying.
