Same here. It's a misconception due to Getsy's play designs. You don't need to layer a ball when you're constantly asked to throw darts outside the hash marks or darts to bubble screens. The plays themselves weren't designed, most of the time, to go over the middle. A lot of the time the guy going through the middle was just a clear out route or never really part of the progression. Getsy simply didn't design much going over the middle.

I totally agree, the scheme didn’t use the middle of the field often enough. But when they were throwing it in the middle of the field, the ball was coming out much quicker with hardly any back motion, mostly forward using his wrists and hands and less of his arm. Just watch the last few games and you’ll see that he gets for the ball very quick on certain plays, mostly in the middle.

If you watch the last few games, there were moments in the games where Justin would have really quick releases and get rid of the ball almost as quick as Josh Allen, there was hardly any backwards motion on his delivery, most of it was from the ear going forward, less back motion, which is what made him slower on his release… So I understand it, but it got quicker, if you watch a few of the games and a few of the throws, he can definitely get it out just as quick as anyone, and that’s what you work with, he has what it takes, he has the arm quickness, hand speed etc. he just have to continue developing that because once he does, it can get really scary when you add that to his ability to run which is even more frightening than the guys in the NFL who are considered really great runners… He does some special things that you need to continue to develop and if you give up on that, if you don’t develop that quickness then you’re just wasting his talent that would be really shameful. And laughing another quarterback to replace him and start over again is kind of stupid, it doesn’t make any sense… You build around The Best Talent you have and Justin is a part of that. saying no to adding two or three more picks to this team kind of silly… I would much rather have two or three top players to fill out this roster because we still lack talent… And if you had another quarterback we would still be in the same situation we don’t have enough talent, and if we took the quarterback, we’d be in a situation talent wise the defense is just starting to show how good it can be. They definitely are going in the right direction top five easily. Add more talent and depth to that defensive line, with the offensive line, they need more depth, a receiver or two, I would love to get that tight and Brock Bowers and a receiver, if not then maybe two receivers and perhaps another running back in the rounds, someone who is similar to Gibbs… Fast, quick, elusive and exclusive. With good catching abilities, good play abilities etc.

It’s not Fields vs Williams. It’s Fields and the trade value of that #1 pick vs Williams. I believe a trade back to 2 makes the most sense. Let WAS get Williams. That likely nets you 2 picks and a player. I just don’t understand CHI not making a HC change. We’ll see if Waldron is enough to bring the offense along, regardless of QB because their issue was coaching and personnel.

Justin Fields played shortstop and was considered a major league prospect. When Justin thinks less and is allowed to play his game you will see his arm angles adjust. Essentially, Pace didnt draft Mahomes because his game was too similar to Jay Cutler. Now, Caleb Williams is essentially the black Jay Cutler.

JF1 came into a situation where his 1st year was a red shirt year then his 2nd new coaches & a rebuild year my dude didn’t have a O line, WR, & defense 3-14 3rd year all the same coaches got some new players on both sides of the ball which helped our record 7-10 we should have been 10-7 not fields fault each year we are progressing so keep JF1 I promise we will make the playoffs. • @Greg_211

There's really only one right move here folks. Keep Fields and trade the pick. The additional draft capital including future 1st first round picks will allow Poles to continue stacking the roster with a boatload of talented young players. The additional first round pick(s) provide the leverage he needs to move up in future drafts. Then he can use the two top ten picks to address immediate areas of need at OL, DL, or WR. In this scenario there's a very high probability the Bears come away with at least three starters on Day 1! And if he can swing a trade for an impact player as part of the package to move down that's even better! And all this is BEFORE he's spent a dime of the $35M (maybe more) in cap space. If Poles does this, he sets the Bears up for the next decade!!!

Jay colored did the same thing with his elbow, sometimes this whole baseball thing gets overused in a football motion, intentional or otherwise, but it obviously gets in there but should have been coached out. You don’t want that same throwing motion. You want the ball out quickerand on time because football is more about timing and rhythm than just stepping back and throwing it like a baseball.

That’s not true, he is a really good pocket passer, ran for much less yards this season than the one before. Look it up it’s available online. Caleb is a much better qb, Justin is an athlete trying to be an average qb, Caleb is a really good qb and an above average athlete. I’ll take the really good qb every day of the week and twice on Sunday!

Fields lacks many of the most important traits that Top QBs generally have: Ability to Throw with Anticipation, Ability to Read Defenses well, Ability to Quickly Process Information, Pocket Presence, Ability to not Panic Under Pressure, Not holding onto the Ball too Long, etc

You just repeating talking points. He has shown all these traits in games this season, if you actually watched you would be well aware of this... Now seeing it consistently can be debated, but it can also be debated that his play caller was inconsistent in calling plays for him to make attempt those throws.

@@Barren3000 Except you are wrong. The reason those are things people say is because it is true. For example, the reason why people always say MVS cannot catch isn't just some weird narrative, it is because he drops lots of passes. Fields holds the ball longer than any QB in the league and has a ridiculously high Sack %, even in comparison to other CHI QB's who have played when Fields has been out. Having a high sack rate and holding onto the ball forever are strong signs of slow processing, unable to feel the pass rush, poor decision making, etc.

I don’t understand the love affair with Justin. He’s a good dude but horrible qb. His best position is as a taysom hill. I’m tired of excepting bottom tier play.

With Dan its never the QBs fault. Its always the coach or supporting cast. Respect his opinion but cmon

No one cares, fields is bottom 3rd in every passing category. Get what we can and reset the contract
