Dan Hooker should be the real heir apparent to the BMF belt. He takes the fights nobody wants. Goes full tilt vs Adesanya in training, and is called a complete psycho by him. Never being afraid of anything, the guy used to fight at gang compounds vs the toughest, rawest gang members, right in front of the gang members where literally anything could happen. If anyone lives up to the game bred legacy, it's Dan!

I thought he was finished. But I also think that this opponent suited him because a fast explosive opponent does not suit him well. As he is not only slow but extra slow in the beginning. But so glad he won because this is actually one of my favorites. He can win again. But then it must not be a Michael Chandler who is fast and explosive because then he will have such a hard time again.

I'm guessing you filmed this before the news came out, but it turns out Dan has a broken orbital bone from this latest fight, as well. I'm guessing it was from that naked head kick he ate fairly early on. He mentioned something about trying to block the head kicks, but his arm just wasn't moving like he wanted it to. Just even more evidence of his absolute gladiator mentality of never giving up during a fight.

Dan Hooker fought after that head kick with a broken orbital and won the fight. Dan Hooker is the new T-Ferg.

Me being a fiercely patriotic Kiwi and a CKB fan from way back, thanks for the great rap for Dan. As Izzy says, 'Humble, I'll tell you what humble is, Having Dan Hooker all over you, and hanging off you at training, THAT is humbling.' Re the 'It's just a scratch' quote, we Kiwis national game is Rugby and one of the toughest players in the history of our national team the All Blacks was the late Colin Meads, or Pine Tree as he was known, in a game against the mighty South African team the Springboks,in the 1960's Piney broke his arm early in the game. He played a blinder of a game and next day when the press learned of the broken arm they naturally asked him about it and asked how painful it must be, esp playing the Springboks (where the entire 15 players are all like Dricus DuPlessis, tough bastards.) Mead's answer was, 'It's just a scratch' and that went down in New Zealand rugby folklore, no doubt internationally admired by opposition players as well, he was well respected and liked among his peers even thouh they were playing rugby, a very combative sport, just like US football but without the helmet and padding. Meads went on to play the entire 4 games of the Sth African tour, in a plaster cast. Dan was too young to remember the incident, actually, I don't think he was born yet when it happened, but his father most likely told Dan about the legendary Colin Meads when Dan was still shitting his pants as a kid. Mike, all the best for the rest of your career. You are a tuff bastid who knows how to fight and it would be cool to see you 'Strap up' someday. Whatever you do in the UFC, have fun brother, tis but a small part of your life is the fighting so best to enjoy it while you are still doing it. RESPEC sir.

Damn, I've never watched your videos before, but this was great. Open, honesty about former scenarios in your career and calculated analysis / insight. Cheers for this! Heard he said the reason he got head kicked was because his arm was immobile and couldn't block it. Savage.

Dan lowkey the real BMF, when he says anyone, anytime, anywhere, he actually means it Guy has taken bad, short notice matchups over and over Broken arm and broken orbital? Just a scratch 😅

Mike I just wanted to say, this man also fought with a fracture/break in his orbital bone. Which I found visible after round 1 as he didn't want the enswell applied to his cheek though it was swollen. I'm not sure if you releases this before that knowledge was public but that's just another reason to treasure this man. I've seen fighters stop or quit from far less and not only was he brutalised in the 1st he must have been questioning what the hell am I doing in here but to turn it around and see the tarantula with the 1000 yard stare during the 2nd and 3rd round was absolutely stunning it goes to show its never over until it's over. Thankyou for your honest opinion and breakdown of past and possibly future opponents you could have brought him down like alot of others would but instead you've built him up and turned him into the kiwi warrior that he always will be. You sir are a true gentleman and the real reason conor is ducking you is because he knows that iron mike has already dominated his will and destroyed his confidence your an animal mike we salute you, thankyou for the blood, sweat and tears over the years.

What a G mike is! This video makes me like him even more what a great dude man giving Dan his props like that is top class cos let’s be honest there’s not many people in the ufc that are tougher than Dan hooker and that goes for Any weight class too. The fact he was still punching with that arm is insane and he was really putting some pop in the shots too I’ve broke bones (wrist & tib and fib) and the fact he was still fighting never mind throwing bombs with his broken arm is absolutely nuts!

Such great compliments about Dan Hooker from a legend. Shows how great Michael Chandler is as a great fighter, and a decent human being. Enjoy the journey. Paul Araki-Metcalfe (ex Kiwi) living in Western Australia.
