    I think this is a much better format, with the person working out actually narrating the workout, rather than just watching someone workout. A lot more enjoyable, more of these please

    This is probably top 3 videos from this channel. Id suggest this format with more Dan, Bridges, Crossfit Mayhem, The Dottirs, and other up and comers. This is the motivating stuff.

    CrossFit, Can you tell Dan Bailey and Matt Fraser thank you from me? They have been such an inspiration to me to do crossfit. I have only been doing it for 2 1/2 months, I really love it. My dream is to go to the Games and win. I am only 13 years old. They have inspired me to do more than I think I can do rather than what I know what I can do. Thank You!!!

    Hey man, you'll get there for sure! I'm 14 and my dream is to pursue in doing crossfit. Not entirely sure if I wanna compete but I do have a goal of being a track star! You'll get there if you put your mind to it! I started around the time I was 12 1/5, and I don't plan on stopping! You're an inspiration to me and I don't even know you. I have major respect for those that have goals and won't stop until they get it! Keep going and you will be the fittest on earth.

Flawed and fallacious logic. No one cares how strong you are, how many pullups/muscle ups you can do, or how downright amazing you are. The OP gave his opinions on the form of the pullups and you got butthurt for some reason. Take your sensitive ass somewhere where it's wanted.

Three sets of ten and then go get a drink of water is not his type of workout. Is that ok? there are different approaches to fitness. Bodybuilding, powerlifting, olympic lifting, monostructural endurance training, crossfit, etc. Dan just so happens to train and compete in the crossfit sector. Which encompasses training methods from all of these.

    the kip is about developing body awareness and control as well as achieving the right amount of intensity... some WODs call for strict pullups while others call for kipping. plus, the grip strength, muscular endurance and core strength required to string together a large number of butterfly/kipping pullups is surprising to say the least.

  • @Dr.leethechiro

    @Dr.leethechiro

    I mean I get it, they look funny! but workouts like this one isn't about strict capacity. If we defined what a pull-up, we'd say that the arms must be locked out at the bottom, and the chin must come over the bar. In every rep, he does this. You still accomplish this with butterfly pull-ups, it's just the momentum of the swing that throws anyone off (rightfully so at first glance, I used to talk SO much shit about this). But I can guarantee you, Dan can pump out 25+ strict pull-ups easily. It's just not the stimulus they are going for right here. Also, butterfly pull-ups are using the full body to "kip" swing. Just how an oly lifter uses his hips to dip and explode with a push jerk/push press/split jerk. Same concept. OBVIOUSLY they cannot strict press as much as they can push press/push jerk/split jerk. But they are using their entire body to help them lift the weight. Same principle.

Just because he's the fourth fittest man in the world and has a physique all of us are jealous of, there is 0 basis there for arguing he is using. Dan undergoes numerous surprise tests throughout the Crossfit Games season and is tested at the Games (the most important event all year with a quarter million dollars on the line), all of which he has passed. So there is hard evidence to substantiate my argument, while yours is based completely on speculation and obvious jealousy.

    OR....you have have superior genetics. There are lots of bodybuilders who are on roids, but few have the kind of arms Arnold had. Genetics does play a role. Dan Bailey was also a college sprinter, so he lifted a lot of weights to be explosive for that. He eats right, and works out constantly. I won't say that some of the Crossfitters don't "use" something, but to pin it all on PED's is absurd.

As far as being more athletic, I can see that, however I did see a video here on KZread where a body builder out performed 2-3 Cross Fit guys and other Pro Atheletes, (Football, etc) which ARE REAL SPORTS too... so I would not immediately be willing to believe that crossfit is the only way to gain GREAT PHYSICAL FITNESS.
