I met Dan and his wife once outside the back of the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto after his gig ended. I couldn't get into the sold-out show so I listened outside to enjoy it anyway. Then he and his crew burst out to get some fresh air and "party on" outside. He and his wife eventually came up to me to talk as they realized why I was there. They were so kind to come up to a shy kid. They were sorry I couldn't get in, but we did talk about the blues and the joy of performing live. So fine. 🎵⭐🔥😎👍

Along with Bill Murray, Dan is one of those guys you just _want_ to love. Sometimes he comes across as a bit nuts and it's hard to keep holding him in that reverence, but here he's just his lovable self. One of the absolute greats of comedy and I'm so happy he took the opportunity to espouse inclusivity and togetherness, especially in this (hopefully soon to be dead) age of division.

Several years ago, (again around Christmas) I worked at a library and was doing a storytime on cookies. At the end, we decorated Christmas cookies. I decorated mine to look like a Martian. "What's a Martian?" A four-year-old asked. "It's an alien, honey." Her mom explained, " Like a Conehead." So we looked at each other, this little 4 year old and myself, and said in unison: "No Beldar, THE BIG PHONE!"

@Jonny B it is comedy, but mostly it's a thriller. It's about hacking, but keep in mind it came out in... '93, I think, so the technology presented is VERY dated. But it has a decent score, stellar acting, and a satisfying climax. Let me know what you think.

Many years ago Koko Taylor was playing at Fitzgerald’s in Berwyn, Illinois. Aykroyd came in to play blues harp with her. Someone called me to ask if I had a harp mic since he didn’t bring one and I indeed did. So I took mine to the club and walked passed the line that stretched around the block, enduring dirty looks, and brought it to the stage. He was profuse in his appreciation, and I got to see a free show. Nice guy.
