If we're being very technicall, the thing they use to breath isn't a gill. Because there's no veins or blood involved, only tracheae

What are the green things that seem to be swimming within the nymph? Are they parasites or part of the nymph or are we seeing through the nymph to something underneath it?

They are so cool. I catched some damselflies when I was a kid. Not knowing what they was. One even bit my finger. I gave them worms that were so much larger then them and when they you could see the food go up in their hair and back in the body.

Probably any number of fish hatchlings start off really small. Minnow and stickleback eggs and hatchlings must be pretty tiny.

Yeah, damselflies and dragonflies can spend years underwater as an apex predator, before coming to the land / air just to mate and start the process again
