It's not that I can't tie this fly. It's that I will never tie any fly as well as this guy tied this fly. What a master. So many subtle techniques and touches. Perfect.

Thanks for this video! I had been looking for a damsel fly pattern, and I feel like this one is perfect. The deer hair extended body was a little intimidating at first, but after I tried it once it really wasn't that hard. I don't think I'll need to bother with any other dry damselfly imitation.

I absolutely love the line "smash the barb". My son and I have been doing that for years if we can't find barbless hooks. Most of the time we can release a fish without ever touching it. Extremely important!! That's a great pattern - thanks for sharing the information.

my wife and i were fishing at in colorado and experienced the coolest phenomenon of a damsel hatch at a beautiful lake. I only had one fly that even remotely resembled a crippled (uh Damsel in destress - i get it!!) and i lost it too soon cause, dang i wish i could spend $300 ON A REEL THAT WOULD JIVE WITH A

I’ve never thought of doing a damsel fly like this with the buck tail saves money on a lot of tube flies you would tie with a nail or whatever
