Does anyone else just get these memories of all the things you did, relationships you had, ups & downs, trials and tribulations when you listen to Damon sing on songs like this ? What an amazing life we have. I'm so grateful I'm only 25 and I can enjoy so much that's ahead of me. Times have been dark for me in recent years but the fleeting moments of happiness in time is what we live for. Every happy moment we have in this existence should be cherished so dearly. I've had an uneasy relationship with my dad in recent times. I'm gonna talk to my dad tomorrow hopefully it's a good day.

I would die to hear him and Graham duet on this. That droney, reverby guitar is just iconic with these powerful lyrics.

Damon is an absolute genius musician. So glad to be alive while he makes this music. Same age and I live and grew up in the same area as him and Graham. Everything he does is just incredible.

Exactly today a year ago, I played this song for 2 straight hours. The moment when this song helped me get through the hardest breakup ever. This masterpiece will forever be a poem to me.

I played this song also after a difficult break up. I could really relate to the whole song and it is just such a beautiful track...One of Blur's finest piece.

Nick Cave Far From Me

I wish I had a thumbnail of his talent. One of our greatest songwriters, never stands still churning out derivative stuff, always on the musical move for different ideas and influences. I'd put him in the same league as Townshend, Bowie and Davies all day long.

Graham’s guitar part on this song is my favourite part of it (and one of his most incredible rhythm/ lead mashups ever), but even so this is really beautiful. Timeless.

The growly "Someone who" at 1:56 is great.

Forever thankful for that someone who break Damon's heart in such way, he came up with this masterpiece.. timeless

Blur has been a constant in my life for 30 + years. Every record has had an impact in different aspects of my life. Different people have come and gone. Different places I've lived and shared those records. Amazing to think back and realize that.

His piano playing is extremely good for someone who was never taught how to play correctly. He has a jazz style to his playing.

It's nice that there is no bad blood between them, looking back, damon have great memories of blur, the reunion really fixed a lot of things and produced one of the best live show ever.. whoever lucky enough to be a part of that 2009 glastonbury, you are one lucky bastard..

I really like this version of the song. I've had a depressive disorder for 3 years and I'm suffering from a particularly big problem these days. But still, when I listen to this, I feel like there will be always a clear sky (and might be a rainbow too) after every heavily pouring rain. It helps me a lot.

I got it straight away as I'm a recovering heroin addict and I nursed my partner through her anorexia until I could not take anymore as she was not doing anything to help herself and was rapidly deteriorating and I left...ten days later she died and the lyrics of the song were literally my thoughts in the days after I left.

The most stripped and straight forward lyrics he ever wrote for a Blur song. No sarcasm, cynicism or ethereal metaphors.

Despite being a very straight bloke, I'd happily give him a hug for this. The emotions Damon Albarn must've felt when he first wrote this song became very obvious in his face as he was performing it, and being able to keep them in check while delivering a great vocal performance is a sign of true talent. :-)

your comment is interesting....not being a song-writer, only a massive listener, songs are often time travel for me. I remember reading Alex saying when he heard this that the felt like Damon was so much more vulnerable and hurt than they had ever realized when he penned and performed this song, regarding the breakup. I hope I am not adding too much to what I read about this reaction of the band. what I hate is the constant posting of images of them from the time frame of the relationship. it has been 20 years as you point out. "it's over...." as he so poignantly sings.

@@amyharris7312 Well, I clearly have no idea, how Damon looks back on these "stories of old", if he cares much at all. However, he has quite a big fanbase, old fans from back then as well as young people. I´m sure, it must feel awkward for a man of his age to have a lot of young ladies who could easily be his kids, swooning over him. lol. And heartbreak stories will always come out on top of the gossip hitparade, I guess and the JF story is on the net for everyone to see and get riled up over, if they wish so (something noone in the 90s had thought about;). He has to live with it, I guess. On a more personal note: I feel some sort of a connection to"No Distance Left To Run". Not too long after this song (and my favourite album "13") came out, I had a break-up myself. About the same time my own band started to fall apart, a bit like what happend with Blur. So, yeah...this song still hits home, if you know, what I mean. Cheers.

For some reason reminds me of Joni Mitchell 'Both Sides Now'. Wrote that song in the early part of her career, as did Damon with this beaut, and takes on a new meaning in the latter part of career. Masterpiece
