It's just that no one paid much heed to whatever happened to pop out of his mouth until after Damn Yankees broke up-if you really check back, you'll find that Nugent has always said basically the same things, just somewhat less exaggerated. For the record, Tommy Shaw says Nugent is like two different people: a warm, actually caring individual in person who keeps up with stuff like your mother's illnesses, and a raving lunatic (my terms, not Shaw's) when he's put in front of a camera and no one shoves a guitar into his hands instead of putting a mike near his mouth.

Somebody explain to me why this song was not considered the absolute BEST in the rock of its era?! Most people - even those who appreciate "Higher" - have probably never even HEARD the song. Can't believe it wasn't it heavy rotation at radio stations! Slamming drums, the crazed brilliance of Ted Nugent, Tommy Shaw's excellence in songwriting, delivery and guitar, the great stage presence of Jack Blades... the sheer raw talent on this stage cannot be matched. Best of all is watching the unabashed joy of the four as they rocked other bands out of the stratosphere AND their joy of playing awesome music together is so clear. SO unlike the vastly airbrushed, commercialized "heavy metal" that was so popular at the time. It's truly a such a higher level, I can't believe they aren't remembered as the exception to slick rock. What I would have given to have been to one of those concerts - the energy is staggering!!

I was a loner crusin' with the wind I wasn't lookin' when you pulled me in I had to leave you like I always did You knew damn well I'd come again Now I'm falling where I've never been My resistance is wearing thin Somewhere in the distance Like a long lost friend Whoa-oh-oh, yeah-yeah Lord, here I come again Come again Yeah Been so long since I've seen you, girl Swear I've been around the world Every room is an empty space In the darkness I see your face Whoa, whoa, whoa Whoa, whoa, whoa Whoa, whoa, whoa When I finally get my hands on you Tell you what I'm gonna do Lay you down, strip you bare Make love to you 'til the morning comes around I wasn't lookin' when you pulled me in Whoa-oh-oh Yeah, yeah Lord, here I come again Come again Come again I said Lord I wasn't lookin' when you pulled me in Whoa-oh-oh Yeah, yeah Lord, here I come again Whoa-whoa-whoa Whoa-whoa-whoa Whoa-whoa-whoa Whoa-whoa-whoa Whoa-whoa-whoa Whoa-whoa-whoa Whoa-whoa-whoa Whoa-whoa-whoa I wasn't lookin' when you pulled me in Whoa-oh-oh Yeah, yeah Lord, here I come again

Damn Yankees was the embodiment of the metal music scene at their pinnacle of success. I met up with Tommy a few years ago when we both happened to be in Nashville, and he's still one of the most down to Earth and personable human beings I've ever met.

This is Uncle Ted's best work ever. Sure, his 70s output is classic, but there's some real magic on this album.

Read a story in Rolling Stone magazine, 50 greatest guitarist ever... Ted wasn't even listed. Lost all respectability for me. Don't care about them anymore. It's all woke politics today. Nugent kicks ass and deserves to be mentioned in the world's greatest guitarist conversation.

He doesn't even sniff the top 200 and "woke" has nothing to do with it. He writes songs about poontang and fucking kids. Fuck him and his apologists. LOL you probably complain about cancel culture too lol. What a loser.

I only discovered this band a couple of years ago and this track was the one that really caught my ear. Like many I just couldn’t stop listening to it . Nugent is not quite on my wavelength but there is no denying he is on fire here. An absolute belter of a solo. Whammy bar action , harmonics , tapping ~ a tour de force of rock guitar. Love it 😍

I'm 57 year old former drummer who is all about educating myself with music. First time I heard this I had to go buy it. The music and lyrics totally rock even with the underline of what this song is saying. Our mental health needs to be addressed.
