Can't believe i just watched 2 minutes of Damien Rice tuning and didn't mind it...

Hey there, I am a classical singer, I am 70 years old, and I stumbled upon M. Rice a few weeks ago on KZread. He is reminding me how to commit to a song, which is a good lesson. So refreshing, many many thanks. Ps ... looking to buy a CD now, to put on the machine while I rest away the late summer afternoons.

When he played older chests, and I played along with him.. I was completely immersed. Then I saw at the end. Where he stood up. Even after all of these years. How the song moved him. How it hurt him. But still finding peace in the simplicity of loneliness. And not feeling completely empty but, losing hope while still holding onto it. That's Damien for you...

Beautifully wrote, liked your comment a year ago came back again today and it hit me again and so replying. When you suffer from hopelessness and that void remains intact no matter what you do, it definitely feels something to know that there are people out there who feels the same (nothing) and share the same love for someone. Others probably know what larger international venues and locations offer the best acoustics for his unigue style as an artist.

Maybe the most true of Delicate's versions of I've seen. Simple, 1 guitar, 1 voice, yet very powerful. There's no distraction from the emotions he lives throughout the performance. The rhythm was probably dictated by the gentle waves of the sea. Perfect.

Finest art one could wish for... such a present for the world is Damien ❤ I listen to him since I was 15... for more than half of my life now... still touches me so much.

Damien was always so unique in his improvisations; no 2 live performances of a song were always the same. 33:03 is already becoming one of my favorite Older Chests versions

He saved 'older chests' 28:00 for the end. seemed to move him and it touched me deeply.

Yeah, by all means, tune for as looong as it takes for it to be in tune! ..and THEN push 'record.' ..but I guess if the recording crew was made up of a rocket scientist and brain surgeon, the stream wouldn't be near as scenic shot in the corner of stainless steel laboratory room or overlooking a surgery table surrounded by scapals and blood buckets.

This is from this summer on his Wood Water Wind tour, particularly this was previously to performing in Palma de Mallorca, he sailed off the catalan coast to the island of Mallorca. This sight is called "cala Deià", beautiful location on the north shore of the island.

Thanks. Would the V = vintage? It's different from standard 15Ms in that the finish is gloss rather than satin.

actually, it is a vintage Martin 00-15 which is all-mahogany model. Damien also uses Martin 00-18v(sitka spruce top, mahogany back & side) sometimes as well.

Not rly copying, but he is definetly huge influence for him and his early stuff was inspired by Damien..he even said it many times, that first time meeting Damien Rice on concert made him realise, this is what he wants to do and i am not surprised..Damien is one of a kind musician and when he starts to sing and play its pure emotion. Cheers :)

@@MrPG41 yep, that's what i meant coz looking up onto his first album + which was a huge succes for him , some of the songs like give me love and UNI were hugely inspired by damien's 9 crimes and cheers darling respectively, even the chords progressions were same in give me love compared to 9 crimes . But i think he completey changed his music from his second album moving to kind of more into hip hop and pop , even his voice changed in that timespan b/w + to × but now he's one the biggest singer sonwriters on this planet .
