Thank you for this fantastic info-video. I'm just researching on African martial art tradition. It makes me very proud...I knew about Musangwe, Senegalese wrestling and South and East African stick fighting but not about Dambe...I watched some other videos where some people made very crude remarks about Hausa peoples. This is very stupid. Nigerians should learn how to embrace all their cultures and peoples...This is the true wealth of your nation...

Thanks for making this video, now I think more and more martial artist of Asian arts will take African martial arts more seriously. I love this video and of course I want to learn this combat art even at my age over forty. Dambe is the best and I hope that you follow this video up with training videos in the gym. Thank you again , great work.

I'm from Southern Cameroon also known as the English side of Cameroon(well my parents are) but I was born in Ireland. I've went to Cameroon for around 2-3 months when I was 6. Anyway this art is interesting. Would like to give it a go. I'll like if any Nigerians that teach this style to come to Dublin in Ireland. I also do boxing and this could probably help me for my boxing

Until you get to find a teacher, i recomend you find someone else who wanta to learn it and has a boxing background, and just spar with their rules... It will sooner or later develope into something similar to the original style...

Thanks for the video, allows us to know more about this interesting sport. It would be interesting to do some video showing techniques of defense and attack, and how the fighters train. Sorry for my bad English, greetings from Argentina!

thank you so much for uploading this video. I've been studying afro martial art for a long time. I am a practitioner of afro-brazilian martial art of capoeira. this video have been more educated in the sport and the game of Dembe. this gave me the missing link and the meaning behind the game fight music dance theory. that is the base that is the base of capoeira. I will share this video among all my friends and I would love to bring the Dembe sport to America. thank you so much for bringing this work live to me and I look forward to more videos from you with commentary thank you.

Nigeria is not the only martial art in Nigeria. There or others such as Ijakadi and ekocece which is actually similar to Dambe but with two hands

Send your fighters to the UFC and K1. Ask the company Bizzard maybe if they'd sponsor your fighters to do that as they did benefit from Doomfist being in their game, a character based off of a Dambe warrior. You want your fighters to be seen by as many people as possible. After covid people want something to distract them from these depressing lockdowns; fighting is a fantastic way to do that as sport based fighting unites us. Just my 2 cents; cheers!

I subscribed, its a very intrresting martial art, ive seen a few kicks there... If they are allowed, why are they not more common?

Kicks are allowed. Warriors would rather punch an opponent as a more effective means to get that knockout.

The 3 Fight Houses - Kudu, Jamus (Arewa) and Gurumada produce an almost equal number of champions. The beauty of Dambe is that your title is always challenged almost immediately you are crowned the champion.
