This guy gets it, I'm no martial arts expert, but you can just tell when someone actually understands the real physics behind something and then explains it in such a way. It actually makes a lot of demos I've seen make more sense now, and proves a lot of others I've seen as being complete bullshit.

Wow, I love the basic symplicity of this master instructor ! he's not just talkin martial arts, he's talkin about (martial science) and how it all comes together as one ! poly rhythmic movements, hair trigger reactions and knowing body positioning. Thankz for posting this video my brother !

So true. I once attended a martial arts demo by a Japanese Jui-Jitsu practitioner and he described his techniques as "marrying" your opponent. Meaning you want to get up close and personnel for it to be the most effective. I thought what was shown here was of high quality. I especially liked the part of using the hand effectively due to location and the multiple hits at once.

There is a DEFINITE connection between the Moors and silat and Kali. That is why the Filipinos still refer to Kali / Escrima as Moro-Moro, according to Guro Dan Inosanto, a revered and master-level practitioner of Kali and Silat.

Excellent vid. All the comments re 'this looks like WC, JKD, Krav Maga' etc - what they all have in common is a preference for combining a strike and a parry in a single technique then flowing into further strikes without retracting the arms. Where many of these discussions go south is when someone points out that a really good boxer wouldn't move like that - great, but the instructor is *demonstrating a principle* not trying to cover the worst case scenario. I might live a sheltered life, but I've never been attacked or threatened by a serious martial artist despite growing up on the streets of Sydney and retiring to the birthplace of Muay Thai. Not once in 55 years- YMMV. Drunk footballers are a completely different animal but that's far more likely to be your opposition on the street than anyone who is seriously pursuing a boxing career of any description, at least IME. Situational awareness and the willingness to walk away when you hear voices being raised are every bit as important as any technique you'll see on YT - avoid bars full of young guys getting hammered or be prepared to go wherever that path takes you. Peace out.

All of these moves look great! However, I wish that some of them can be demonstrated against a resisting opponent. Street dudes and trained fighters tend to throw punches in bunches, grapple etc. Of course, you cant poke an eye out for demonstration purposes. Put on some gloves and show us against someone who is fighting back.

He's fighting as a lefty? most attackers are right handed. the teacher is a righty. that also makes a difference. What I do like about this video is that the attacker is using western style boxing and that's realistic. most kung fu videos us these weird punches that we don't use. this was cool.
@MaxwellHavins12 жыл бұрын
Also when the attacker clinches you up. You can re-post on their hips with your hands or put them in neutral clinch (which is when your shoulder to shoulder.) and pull them into yours. great video man.

I'm not a martial artist myself. I've watched a lot of it, but I'm not actually trained in any style. So anything I say is with a sort of "this is how it seems to me, or am I all wet?" included. This looks to be as practical and, to put it bluntly, as cool as the Asian techniques I'm used to seeing. But there's a difference. This looks, I'm not sure how to put it... closer. Less at arm's or leg's length but right inside a person's space. It's interesting.

In actuality this is not different at all from the techniques and principles of Asian martial arts. Many demonstrations of the arts show techniques from arms or legs length distance, mostly so that they are easily visible, however in actuality hand to hand combat is conducted from very close range as this demonstrator shows. These techniques are identical to asian techniques i have seen. I hold instructor's rank in several asian combat arts and have used them if you wonder about my bona fides.
