▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ VIDEO ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
In this video knife maker Gillian makes a thor damasteel blade. Damasteel is a hot isostatic pressed powdered metal stainless steel, imported from Sweden. In this video damasteel bar stock is cut on the bandsaw, profiled with a bastard file, and deburr before being checked on a surface plate for flatness. Next the damasteel barstock is straightened using an arbor press. After straightening the barstock, it is attached to an aluminum fixture so it can be machined into a blade blank. Finally, after machining EDM stones are used to remove the machining marks from the exotic material.
Working with damasteel does not have to be intimidating.

I love your videos. You make some of the best knives anywhere. Please be careful and don't breathe any of those chemicals. Acetone, epoxy resins, and the worst of the worst, super glue, are all toxic and can build up in your system. Super glue in particular, treat that like the plague, because it is. You must have excellent ventilation or wear those respirator masks. Solarez sells a zero-VOC UV-cure epoxy resin, which is supposedly safer, and I have used it, and it's a good product, but it still stinks like crazy.

I have about 5 buffing wheels. Most are stitched spiral, or loose muslim. Most of the time I keep the pink scratch-less on my buffer.

@@GillianKnives how about a cam video on how to bevel the blade. I want to get into making knives and I have a blade designed up in fusion and I know I have to sweep it but I can’t get my profile lined up unless I cut the whole blade.
