Actually, Genkuro Matsunaga does it better, but to be fair, he's a 75 year old sword master who has been blacksmithing since he was a teenager. You can actually see him work by looking up the video "A 75-year-old swordsman who has made 1,000 Japanese swords".

Probably any stainless steel knife is superior to this, at least in terms of corrosion resistance.

@@einundsiebenziger5488 Eh, Damascus is supposed to be fairly corrosion resistant in and of itself. We have Damascus swords from the 1200s that don't have a spec of rust on them. Show me stainless steel that's 800 years old and rust free, then we'll talk.

Huh... never thought of using hacksaw blades, but if you think about it... it makes perfect sense. I can already see various patterns using different types of blades (like the less hard wood blades for example that can be fitted to hacksaws). Neat! Hope you and yours are well! Stay safe!

I think it’s great that you use the Bible as a moral compass and believe Jesus died for our sins. It makes you a better person, but forcing beliefs and acting crazy like that is just annoying.

@@KAJI9lH Вот тут не согласен. Сам люблю похаять "ковальщиков дамассков" кующих из всякого **** типа горстей гаек или старых велосипедных цепей, но вот тут прямо интересно получилось. Во первых - за основу взята нормальная сталь(на ножовочные полотна обычно говно не пускают, сталь там способна держать заточку), а во вторых - узор действительно вышел очень даже красивый, чем то морозные узоры напоминает. Так что тут на уровне что задумка, что исполнение.

@@figvam9 Думаю достаточно. Да, часть углерода выгорит, но не забывайте что обычно используют в качестве "клея" для кузнечной сварки: чугунные опилки смешанные с бурой. Помимо более низкой температуры плавления, чугун вводит в сваренный брусок дополнительный углерод, который в процессе ковки перераспределяется в толще полученного сварного пакета, так что это компенсирует то выгорание о котором вы говорите.

I think this is my favourite one so far. That Damascus pattern is incredible! It makes the knife look like a feather or a fern frond. Simply gorgeous.
