Damascus of screws, making a blade.
Ғылым және технология
The process of forging a blade from self-tapping screws, in two ways.
my website: sites.google.com/site/damasks...
Frequently Asked Questions: The billet is soaked in kerosene. This is necessary for good welding (forging) steel. I sprinkle flux (90% borax + 5% quartz sand + 5% charcoal powder) this is necessary for forging (forge) welding. The flux is alloyed with scale - the formed substance is sufficiently fluid and is easily displaced by deformation. In addition, the flux protects against oxygen and charcoal, carburizes the surface layer of metal - which lowers the welding temperature (if in brief). The first welding is done on a tree, since the wood is a heat insulator, and not so selects temperature as an iron anvil. In addition - burning, the tree burns oxygen, protecting the workpiece and pouring the flux work. This is important for welding workpieces with small parts (cable, chain). I do not answer the question of cost - write to mail: sites.google.com/site/damasks...

No scrap of metal will be wasted while Dmitri is able to work it into his art!
I am very impressed by the quality of your forging! You always keep your pieces yellow orange so no place for cold forging that could weaken the metal structure. Also you keep your anvil clean of the scale. Not sure if if it changes anything since a lot of people I watched smitthing doesnt clean it but it feels really professional just as your finished products looks strong and beautiful. keep up the good work!

Wow not only are your Damascus patterns exquisite, but every step of your forging and blademaking process is so masterful and precisely executed! Like, I’ve seen some horridly failed forge welds in stuff I’ve watched and on actual knives, but yours are the cleanest and most thoroughly executed I’ve ever seen. You make it look easy!?!, And your bladegrinding setup and method is just mindblowingly efficient to watch as someone who wants to get into blacksmithing someday and thinks “OHHH What a perfect tool for that job to ensure consistency between blades” (the grinder with the magnet plate, and the stopguard that you screw onto the blade before shaping the edge). I imagine those steps give you consistent shaping on the back of the blade and for the thickness of the tang, but let you have the freedom to grind as you wish for the rest of the shape and the edge itself! Very cool!
You're just seeing this today, now 2 years later and you weren't looking for it. Same as me.

Lord Seventh bruh everyone fucks up from time to time. When you’re working with something as dangerous as molten metal, a minor slip up could lead to what I would imagine to be some extremely fucking painful accident leading to a lifelong deformity if not death. I don’t think someone’s a pussy for wanting to wear safety equipment like a rational adult when working with dangerous shit. I do kind of question the values of someone who prides themselves on being so malignantly dumb that they’ll risk their own life and limb to protect what frail sense of masculinity they feel they have. It’s okay, buddy; high school was hard for all of us. 🤣
