But I appreciate the fact that this show leaves me with a thirst for more so I end up back in the pages of scripture, reading the teachings for myself. And that’s really how it should be. I've read the Bible from Genesis to Revelations many times since I was saved at 15. I'm 62 now. I still learn each time I start reading over again. There is a danger, I say, of thinking of Jesus not as a man but an embodied angel. That is not what John meant by “the word made flash”. That does not mean that I know “what he was metaphysically, but that I know what he is not. He is a man; he is also God. God incarnate. That is not something even the angels know ny nature. I think God had to reveal Himself even to them, but when he did not even all they could accept Him. Those who accepted him. like Michael somehow “cast down” Lucifer who regarded" himself "as the highest, and perhaps as the Creator by worshiping THE True Lord”.

May I redirect you, friend, that if you were to dig deeper into Scripture, you'll find that God intends for perfection to be available to us even here now on earth. Maybe not in every aspect, but most certainly in character. Because if you agree with me, that Christ, who was wholly human, yet fully God, was able to achieve perfection in character where we failed, in order to take our place at the cross; then you would agree also that the opportunities He had in overcoming are the same that we have access to. Therefore, perfection is possible, as long as we accept Him to pardon our past failures, and let Him help us to reproduce perfection in character afterward, yet still here, and now on earth to His soon return. Now, I'm aware that we may share different beliefs and doctrines in the faith, and we are at different walks, at different areas in our separate walk with our God, but do give God the chance to reveal things that may seem outrageous to you now, but will make sense if you seek Him more. Okay? Wishing the best for your pursuit of the truth that is found in Christ, and the advancement to your walk with the Lord. :)

Personally I never had any frustration for the sermon on the mount “practice” even though theologically I don’t think Jesus needed Matthew even slightly to develop the sermon on the mount and Jesus knew what He was going to say and was going to say it perfectly because He is God. I looked at it slightly differently. Jesus was doing this for Matthew’s sake to grow and learn. I looked at this scene that this was all done for Matthew to grow in understanding of God. (As they’ve shown previously Matthew is woefully versed in scripture compared to the other apostles.) So I feel like it wasn’t necessary for Jesus to “practice” but fitting for him to do that for Matthew. Especially culminating in the finalization of the beatitudes and Matthew being there to love God and seem like he finally understands.

Watching the episode I never once thought of it like Jesus needing Matthew's help, but I saw it as a moment for Jesus to spend time with Matthew. As a character Matthew often finds it hard to connect and be connected with the other disciples, we've seen him and Simon, and how he's been resented for his past job of a tax collector, as well as just the other disciples not necessarily understanding him, which in the way that you've chosen to portray Matthew (as Autistic) happens. Only a few besides Jesus (e.g Phillip) are understanding/patient etc with him. So with Jesus having Matthew be there with him while he's thinking about his sermon, it's a benefit for Matthew, a break from the stressful world of human relationships and a chance for him to spend time with Jesus, not only to learn and understand scripture more, but to feel Jesus' love and have some one on one time. I really like it and love how it's a big part of the episodes. Depending on what's going on in people's life, where they're coming from, depends how they see/interpret these scenes. For me at the moment, what's going on in my life, is why I've interpreted the scene that way, and why I love it so much, because it feels like me spending time with Jesus, and reminds me that he is my break, the one I can turn to for rest and safety, that he loves me and understands me even when others don't. Thank you 😊

I have read and even taught lessons on the Beatitudes many times but have never thought that he may have drawn his material from his personal experiences with his disciples. Of course he would have! Just like his parables included typical circumstances of the cultures, occupations, politics, and people that he grew up with. I love that you explain the care and the pains that you take to make, not just each scene, but each "word", every gesture; pause; smirk; smile; surroundings, EVERY DETAIL, have significance, meaning, truth, or the writers "creativity". Judas has always been presented as a "bad guy" when he could very well have been someone who sincerely wanted to follow Jesus but took a wrong turn. I don't have a problem with Jesus "working on" his sermon but, for those who do, maybe you could flip it and look at it as Jesus doing it not for himself, but for Matthew. But seeing the crew and what they produce and create, I think I have to say that all of your workers from the actors, writers, editors, creators, builders, sound and light technicians, engineers who figure out what you are trying to portray, painters, designers, musicians, artists, wardrobe - oh, I cannot remember all who work with you - are all geniuses in their field and are blessed to have you as their brilliant leader! But the unreal level of dedication and loyalty and longing of people around the globe is the poured-out anointing of the Holy Spirit! I have always wondered how the Bible would say that every eye will see and ear will hear in every tribe, language, people and nation the Gospel of Jesus Christ before the end of time. I could never imagine how that could happen! But, Dallas Jenkins, God has His hand on you and He has prepared and chosen you for this purpose and we thank you for saying to JESUS, “I WILL FOLLOW”

I don't think Judas let the businessman lead him astray. Just like Matthew, Judas wanted a more fluent lifestyle, he was already there! Just like in today's society, money & greed can give people the lifestyle they want but don't need. I truly believe that Judas believed in Jesus, wanted to follow Him and the evil one didn't turn Judas till later. Judas never gave up his want for what money could do especially holding the ministries purse, kept him attached to money. At least Matthew had no regrets of leaving everything. What an experience we are going to have when we go home and have everything shown to us. WOW, and I do have a lot if questions to ask 😊😮

He loved Jesus so much he killed himself when he could have gone away with money and started over. That love is hard to imagine. I can't breath knowing what I did. He didn't understand it didn't matter. Jesus wasn't NOT going with them. Peter, didn't kill himself, didn't say sorry until Jesus came to him. There's that word again money, it is the root of all evil isn't it? Peter denied knowing Jesus 3 times but Judas turning Jesus over to His haters for money seems like greed not complete love, at least in my way of thinking. I think Judas killed himself because of guilt and afraid he would be hunted down. He didn't love Jesus that much if he could betray Him, that's not love. That's putting money and self gain before the Lord. Like I said before I have a lot of questions when I get home!! He was so innocent and sweet-literally the more honest of the two men. We totally approved of your handling of Judas and don't think you should regret it. If you had left the money issue out of the equation, it would have made it more unbelievable that this Judas had a weakness which would end up in his failure. Jesus took the time to help Matthew understand, but he also involved him in something in which his giftings for details and meticulous record-keeping could be put to use. The preparation for the sermon with Matthew is one of my favourites because it reflects the process of writing speeches. Jesus already had a lot of material but needed to sequence them. When Matthew critiqued, it was like the voice in our heads questioning how this could be better. Eventually, the final product had flow. The beatitudes helped answer the audience question "what's in it for me?" The last beatitude on persecution must have felt like an impossible request similar to "offer the other cheek". But the next part is the brilliance of flow: "You are the salt of the earth..." Matthew's a-ha reaction reflects our realization. Even the Sermon on the Mount was great speech-writing. Thank you for illustrating that process!

But it is the divine wisdom of God that He uses us, fallen sinners saved by Grace, to share the message we have received. Not angels, not usually dreams and visions, but people. It is for our benefit and blessing. Matthew was growing in his understanding and knowledge of the Savior as he worked through this exercise.

The details of putting this together has all my attention. I learn so much from it. When I studied acting, giving my characters background mainly depended on my own imagination. How refreshing it is to hear that a lot of it is given by the director. In so many ways, the privilege of working on the Chosen has to be the best, a dream job come true.

You sound like a Catholic, Dallas & I mean that as a compliment. Especially at the end when you’re speaking about the Beatitudes. That’s Why devout Catholics study, read about and learn about the Saints, to bring us closer to Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Thanks Dallas, we can feel your heart. Big fan of The Chosen!

I absolutely loved that Matthew and Jesus worked on the sermon together. That was a great way to deliver the message in a unique way.

We never consider why Jesus allowed certain disciples like Peter to experience events like the Transfiguration. But Matthew being with him while he prepares the beatitudes gives us really good insight. And I love Dallas highlighting that it was for their benefits. Especially in light of everything the disciples would go through individually. Jesus was aware of all his people and picked particular moments to deal with their issues through love, grace and truth. The intimate moments is what draws us even nearer to him. So they mean more than anyone realize. Because it's the part of Jesus so many of us want to experience.

LOVED the S2 grand finale. Especially all the scenes of the apostles during Jesus saying the Beatitudes - so utterly moving - even in this video.

I do have more visuals now as I read the words of Jesus in the Gospels. Jesus is very relational and is teaching His disciples to be the same but uniquely be themselves. Gift and talents are being displayed in each of them. I cry during every episode. Tears of joy and tears of understanding and tears of compassion. Thank you for giving to The Lord!! May each and every single person involved in the making of this show be blessed and protected!!

Fantastic job. I can't get through an episode without God using it to speak to me, like a powerful sermon. Its almost always a reminder of God's extraordinary love for me. Thank you for fomenting a revival.
