DALLAS (1988-89) - JEREMY WENDELL GETS BUSTED.mpg

Ойын-сауық

My favorite scene from the 1988-89 season, where The Ewing Brother's long time enemy, Jeremy Wendell (William Smithers), get caught for causing the range-war for Section 40 during that season.

    This was one of the greatest doublecrosses I've ever seen. Carter McKay, and the Ewing family FINALLY working together instead of against each other. Jermey Wendell got BUSTED, hook, line, and sinker. Bobby was like, "I told you Wendell, if my brother didn't get you, I'd get you, and we got you together. Absouletely CLASSIC!

    The Ewings were Invincible when they were United. J.R. was despicable and lovable at the same time, a feat rarely accomplished in literature, film, or TV. Sadly, when "Jock" died the writers chose poorly and began the swift decline and demise of Dallas.

    William Smithers was a great character actor in the 60's and 70's. Usually doing villain parts. I remember him as a renegade Federation officer in the 1967 Star Trek episode "Bread and Circuses". He also played the warden in the 1973 Steve McQueen film Papillion.

    Jeremy Wendell was the one truly invincible character in the Dallas plot. Wendell was not involved in alcohol, drugs, or women - which meant he didn't get seduced and didn't make mistakes while drunk. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED in the writers, because there is NO WAY IN THE UNIVERSE that intelligent Jeremy Wendell would just admit to starting the range war and being responsible for a murder. He would NEVER, EVER do that!!! ... I want Wendell back!!!

  • @michaelzoran

    @michaelzoran

    Seriously, would ANY of you be DUMB enough to just admit you were responsible for a murder??? ... Answer: No. ... And even if you did, you would be drunk or far too stupid to be a billionaire like Jeremy Wendell. Jeremy was SMART. He didn't drink, so he wouldn't admit it like that. He wouldn't get seduced either, so he wouldn't tell it to a woman. He wouldn't say it over a phone, because it could be tapped. Jeremy would NEVER do this!

    Michael Zoran Dallas writers, if you didn't want to pay William Smithers to play Jeremy Wendell anymore, then give him an honorable death - something like a plane crash or an assassination. Don't have him hang himself in an act of stupidity that is so gratuitously stupid and gratuitously unlike Jeremy that it looks absurd.

I knew that the Ewings weren’t going to sell section 40 when I saw Miss Ellie and Clayton sign one document.. It’s true that they both owned South Fork jointly but Miss Ellie and Miss Ellie alone, owned the mineral rights to drill for Oil. Hell, if she didn’t share the mineral rights with Jock, she sure as hell wouldn’t have shared the mineral rights with Clayton.. lol

    Actually Windell did some business with the Ewings in the early years. But when Ellie was going to divorce Jock, JR made plans to sell Ewing Oil to WestStar as a wholy owned subsidiary, with JR running it. Jock went crazy and called it off, after the Windell never would deal with JR. WestgStar was said to be the "8th largest" oil company out there, had it been larger it would have been bigger than the seven-sisters and infringed on reality.
