Larry Mac was one of the most honest nicest hardest working people in garage I've ever met, in all my year in Nascar and Arca, one of my special moments for him was winning the Daytona 500 with Davey Allison, I still today have the upmost respect for him, he's just a good man

I am so impressed Dale with your memory. Each one of your shows just instills it all the more. I am 66 years of age and I can hardly remember days for my job of 33 years let alone specifics of each day like you do. I enjoy your show so much and continue to learn more with each show, but most of all is how grateful you are for all of your friends and racers from days gone by. Keep it up. Mike's memory is pretty darn sharp too. 😍👍

110% agreed! I used to be a huge Nascar fan, but stopped about 15yrs ago. The sport changed and left me behind. These are the great stories from the golden era & are very interesting and enjoyable. Jr does make a great interviewer & is able to get such great insider stories out of all of his guests. Adds so much to my memories of the sports era of greatness. Love it! Too bad some of the great characters such as Bill France Sr or Jr, or Smokey Yunick, or Benny Parsons, or(insert name here) aren't still alive to come on his show. They would have such awesome stories.

Loved this interview with Larry. I was fortunate enough to be one of the two people he mentioned that he hired to build the 16 car. An interesting story he didn't mention was that we worked on our own #16 Chevy for Morgan Shepherd, and David Pearson's #21 Ford at the same time. David left Hoss Ellington to form his own team. He bought a Thunderbird from Jr. Johnson that he had built to test to find out why the Fords were beating his Chevys so badly, and then had no more use for it. David's 3 sons were going to crew the car along with 1 other guy. Even though David had left our owner, Bobby Hawkins, to drive for Ellington, they were still good friends, and since we were both running part-time schedules with no overlapping races, Bobby sent us to work on David's car at his races. Had to be careful which uniform we packed :) Larry mentioned Butch Lindley getting hurt. We held a race and autograph signing at Greenville to help with the medical bills. The local car owners donated the cars for the race and the drivers were all Winston Cup drivers that volunteered. The only problem was, even though there was a full field of car, we had more Cup drivers show up than we had cars. I watched the race standing in the infield with Larry and Tim Richmond, another great guy.

He said he would absolutely consider it but only if someone else stepped up to run that program. He would gladly allow his track to be used but he didn't want to be the guy dealing with running a racing program on a weekly basis. Now, a year later maybe his thoughts have changed but its sounds like he is open to that idea.

Truex is my driver now altho Jeff will always be #1☺ so you can have MTJ on anytime too please lol. Thanks for great shows and thanks for remembering the old tracks. They shouldn't be forgotten either. Remember little Ona in WV? You raced there in the 2000's once. Richard Petty raced there in early yrs and remembers it. Mikey, Kenny Wallace, Steve Park, a LOT of you came for charity races/meet in greets here. Our local small track still racin on Sat nights. You and Smoke flew into Huntington WV few yrs ago from Bristol to see Kid Rock. You played drums. ☺❤👍 We ❤ you. Be well. Love to you and your girls.❤❤❤❤

Of course I cant answer that question for Kenny.... but as a hardcore drag race fan, I know Kenny was an excellent businessman who loved racing.... When you put those two factors together, Kenny probably saw it as a chance to be involved in another form of motorsports AND a chance to make even more money. That's my guess anyway... Dale should really try to get Kenny on the show. I would love to see that. Even if Kenny was JUST a Winston Championship drag racer he deserves to be on the show. But when you include the fact that he was also involved in NASCAR as a Winston Cup team owner, he's absolutely worthy of a Dale JR podcast interview. 👍

83-84 is when Hawkins had the cadilllac convertible with the bull horns on the front and they were running it around one of the race tracks... our neighbor across the street was married to a woman from the Hawkins family and the cad was over at their house one day. LOL

Larry McReynolds needs to get into the Hall of Fame immediately. He was a good crew chief, and an amazing analyst of the sport. The fact that he isn't in already is embarrassing

Not much of a nascar fan anymore, kinda lost me, when the guy with the most wins at the end of the season didn’t always guarantee the championship. I could however, listen to these stories forever.

Love this guy, but I will always associate Larry with Davey Allison and your Dad's Daytona victory. That puts him in the hall of fame.

Speaking for at least tens of thousands of viewers, ya know we love you guys & greatly appreciate & enjoy these awesome interviews, especially with the retired greats among drivers, crew chiefs, team owners, etc. But the sad truth is, far fewer people nowadays wanna "listen" to anything ( and "reading"......well, that's even worse ), everyone wants to WATCH videos nowadays. I don't see why you guys can't keep your podcast as it is, for folks driving/traveling to listen to, PLUS put the entire interviews right here on youtube. I know it can be done, me & my buddy have worked together to post dozens of videos on his youtube channel that are as much as 45 minutes long. I can tell you right now that your channel subscriber numbers would explode. And as much as we love & crave these interviews, it's kind of frustrating & disappointing when they come to an abrupt ending far too soon.
