Old Ukrainian Party Music! I'm from Ukraine, and we have a sort of tradition, when family gathers to celebrate something, and oftenly it happens when party is coming to an end, when it's dark outside, and everybody is already drunk, and have eaten their weekly amounts of food in one day :) Elderly woman gather and start to sing old Ukrainian songs. It always feels like you're embracing your roots in such moments, some people even start to cry, because our songs are usually pretty emotional, sometimes even sad. Music like DakhaBrakha always brings me to my childhood, when we were gathering with friends and family.

Just don't call this "Ukrainian traditional" music. This is Ukrainian hipsters who exploit Ukrainian traditions for music and profit. As I wrote elsewhere. I don't think this is a respectful way to do this when there are already many people who try to preserve authentic folk and traditions of Ukraine.

This is the most original music I’ve heard in decades (I’m 67). I’m in love with each of these beautiful women, love this music

EXTRAORDINARY PERFORMANCE. The voices, instruments, timing, costumes....OMG YES, transcendental, hypnotic, exquisite.

I’m back for yet another repeat of Nina’s smile and the music of course. I’ve hardly listened to any other music for about 8 weeks now. DakhaBrakha’s albums are all on BandCamp at very reasonable price. The studio material is subtly different to their excellent live arrangements and reveal the truly amazing talent of this group. In my 71 years they are the first band to inspire me to learn a foreign language! I’m desperately hoping they manage another tour of Australia before I die.

Had never heard of this band, and then today came upon them doing a free performance in the East Village in NYC. What incredibile, captivating, and mutifaceted musicians and performers they are! I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a concert do much. Amazing band!

So you open this video. You've listened to KEXP before, A lot of music went into your ears. You've even traveled the world to witness concerts and festivals; to expose yourself to culture. So you open this video. The thumbnail makes you expect some simple folk music, right? Or perhaps some exceptionally obscure stuff that only the hipster impulses in you will acknowledge is good. Then these wondrous people start making sounds from nature with their mouth and you think you know where this is going, but every progression is a curve ball fucking with your expectations but still being exceptionally easy to like. What a trip. Now I gotta see this band live, whatever it takes!

Poland is Ukraine's neighbour, I'm priviledged to understand most of what they say in their mother's tongue (partially due to my Ukrainian roots...). That makes the whole experience rise even to a higher level for me. DaxaBraxa really are a culture ambassador of Ukraine to the rest of world. They are top class, second to none, as artists, as the human beings as well. Came across many interviews with them, always pleased 'n enjoyed. I sincerily love what they do, I'm not an exception here, am I? Love, peace, music unites! BTW: Darek, despite your Italian-sounding last name, ain't you have some Polish-based ancestors, perhaps? Discovered this group by happy accident only this evening. Phenomenal talent and a joy to hear. And then I'm told they're from Ukraine at this worrisome time of war between this nation and Russia. Here the band members all look like they are having a great time, but this was recorded before the invasion of their country. Hope it is all over soon. Long live Ukraine.

oh geez, when the cello player belts it out in the song 'Baby' I got tears...such beautiful music.

i was crying after one minute. Instantly transported to the forest. They have some raw primal energy to share these wonderful people.

The first song almost brought me to tears and then "Carpathian Rap" started and holy shit this is the greatest left-turn in a KEXP concert I've ever listened too. Undoubtly one of the coolest groups I've seen in this channel. Astonishing.

The first time I listened to Vesna, it opened up something deep inside of me and let out some emotional tears that had been waiting to come out. At 38 years and having experienced many contexts of emotion, I am still astounded that music can have such a pull. Beautiful ❤

Love their outfits. They're all beautiful people. Jaw dropping sounds.

Sometimes life puts you down, and you have to struggle and gain strength out of nowhere to just continue living... and sometimes you ask yourself what is the meaning of all this. But in rare occasions you encounter something like this video and even though you have no answers, you stop worrying about the questions for a moment. And that is beautiful!

This is real music. The best kind. Original. Not corporate. Emotional. Heartfelt. I teared up during the first and fourth songs.

I was doing dishes, and “Baby” started playing. Instantly started tearing up to where I couldn’t see what I was doing, and idk why. When your music hits a person that hard, and they can’t even understand you, you are legendary. Get it together Nick.... You’re a man!

This is one of the best things KZread EVER recommended me to watch/listen to. Never heard anything like it, they're fantastic!!

Remember all the concerts you were at? Badly rarely performers could sing live as much as on an album. This band can! Can imitate musical instruments, sounds of nature, animals... Can be in different genres and even read rap. The music is so strong. Even without knowing the words you will get the max ears pleasure! It's worth listening and sharing! Many thanks to the performers! Dackabrakha the best!☄

had the pleasure of hearing this group at the Vancouver island Music Festival last night. I'm hooked.

It's 4/20/22 and I was listening to WUKY 91.3 in Lexington, KY on the way home from work, and there was a segment on, and they were showcased, and I had to make myself try to remember the name of this group so I could get home and look them up on the internet. It brought me here and I think I have found a new musical love interest. Just fantastic.

The first song makes me cry. It's simply fantastic and so emotional in the happiest way possible.

Wow, I never knew...I absolutely love this music. It's just inspiring to say the least! And dark. But so joyful too. Thank you, thank you! Each member is so unique, I couldn't take my eyes off of the screen, they seem so proud but humble too, they are definitely balanced 😊❤

This is the most infectious, uplifting, interesting music I have stumbled across in years. All of them look like they are having a blast playing.

I agree completely. So original. Unpretentious, raw, yet so skillfull and melodious.

This was just incredible!... too many emotions throughout these 30+ minutes.

Wow, never heard this kind of music before, the first one was my favorit, where they use birds sounds. 🤩

What kind of merciful God has prevented this to go world wide famous? They deserve the recognition other artists are getting and are so not to their level.

Saw them in Tallahassee last spring. Possibly the best musical experience I have ever had. Totally exhilarating!
